I saw him at Spaceland last night and he was phenomenal. (For any interested parties in So Cal, he's playing Amoeba Monday night.) Really f***ing brilliant. Oh, and he knew who I was, well kinda. He came outside pre-show when people were only just starting to queue up. I recognized him and told him I loved his album. He was soooo sweet and polite! He thanked me and asked if I was there for the show, so I told him I'd come just to see him (four bands were playing). He was like, Awww, thanks! I told him I'd even reviewed his album and he said, "Wait, was that for a university?" So he knew about my review. Awesome. He thanked me again and then shook my hand saying, "Hi, I'm Patrick." He's really adorable and very, very kind.
