Der Spiegel audio released - what's next?

OK, we all know that the Der Spiegel audio has been released and there's plenty of discussion on it. It's really all just speculation, but what does Morrissey do next? Ignore it? Acknowledge it? Does he still do the CBS This Morning - Saturday Sessions? Perhaps just hope that it blows over before the UK tour in February?

His attempt to get out in front of it with this FB post - only hurt his credibility more - IMHO. So, what are your thoughts on next steps?

Ignore it (it being the audio release and the interview all together). Do the cbs sessions and if asked questions that relate to the topics discussed in the past interview come up with a more coherent articulate response. refuse to answer questions about der Speigel altogether

Bizarrely, he seems to have got away with this somehow? Initially there was a lot of noise around his original comments and lots of press on his denial of the comments, yet very little on the released recording of his comments. He clearly spouted the bollocks he did but the press don't seem to have picked up on it for some reason, its all very odd?

They've already moved on from it onto the next exciting piece of news. They're over it now. I saw Pitchfork posted an article about it but everyone has expressed their feelings over it and left it after that.

Hard to do the CBS show when the band is now scattered across the globe. Pretty sure that's not happening. In fact, my (totally unsubstantiated) theory is that that and the Colbert show were cancelled ON HIM (due to backlash), which set off the Philly, Boston, and LA debacles.

Suicide, hopefully. He's a complete cock.

The smartest thing he could do is show some uncharacteristic humility and address the discrepancy between his FB post and the audio. Just clarify it. Instead he'll play the martyr card and just grow more bitter. Bottom line. He lost this round. This fight. Second round TKO.

He'll do the same as he always does. Never explain, never apologise, and hope that everyone forgets.

Would be good if they released the complete audio of the interview first, don't know why they haven't yet.

For how can it be fair to judge what was said, if we are not allowed to hear what was said?

Then he will merely confirm his delusionality.

He has destroyed his reputation and his legacy.

His 'fans' don't need to forget because they cannot even take reality in. However, the wider public have read enough about this to be loading up his CDs into the recycling crate for the next boot sale. He is finished. Even an abject apology can't help him as he would then have to apologise for all the other ridiculous outbursts about interviews, especially the NME one a decade ago about immigration. It can't be long before other taped interviews leak.....

There's nothing there, so Moz needs to do absolutely nothing. And of course he won't. He clearly made his point in that last FB-post.

Now he just needs to get ready for a no doubt also fun- and incident-packed world tour in 2018.

What Steve does every day. Wake up, get coffee with Nancy at Caffe Luxxe, ride jet skis with John Lydon and Dave Evans, walk around the Beverly Center, and then go to all you can eat potato tacos at The Sunset Marquis. Uncle Steve doesn't give a shit what you foreigners think.

You really are a blinkered fanatic. The journalist has stated elsewhere that she told a personal story to Morrissey that had nothing to do with the printed interview. Plus: the recording was meant for transcribing only. Therefore the cuts might be due to the fact that often the journalist stops the tape when s/he consults her/his notes and wonders what to ask next. Or the interviewee might stop the recording too if s/he decides to tell something off the record.

Besides, what on Earth could Morrissey say in the presumably censored bits that would cast his recorded comments in a different light? Plus when Morrissey hadn't yet denied saying those comments, you spent quite a lot of time defending what he said -- and suddendly they are not okay, when Morrissey says so? No amount of silly font sizes and underlinings can change the fact you're a pathetic loon.

Yes, unless the omitted cuts were Morrissey saying that he wanted to change earlier answers ... don't see how it backs his claims in any way.

He’ll still be “controversial, outspoken, former Smiths front man” - I don’t know the person. I know the music. I like that. Don’t really care beyond that.
