Morrissey Central "DAILY MAIL" (May 12, 2023)

The Daily Mail 'news' paper is planning a hit-piece on Morrissey. The Daily Mail is scrambling around for grime and gossip to discredit Morrissey once again. Please do not credit The Daily Mail with any views of their hyperbolic clickbait.

He can’t get a record deal, he’s got two albums that can’t get released, most of his band have just walked out on him, celebrities - well, Greg Davies and MasterMind champion UnklePeter - are denouncing him, I’m rating his solo career into oblivion in the forums, yet he’s still selling out (small) venues … it’ll be a “look how the mighty have fallen, yet his demented, drug-addicted fans still idolise him… what is going on in the world of Morrissey in 2023?” type of thing.

Im not saying they’ve asked me for a comment, but let’s just say there might be a haiku or three in the upcoming article….

Maybe some details about what happened with Capitol records causing them to shelve BOT? If the story involves Miley Cyrus that ups the general interest level a bit I would think.

It’ll be a little bit of everything… Miley, Capitol, unreleased albums, band leaving, criminals in operation at gigs etc etc etc. They’ve finally got enough odds-and-ends to cobble together a full-length article.

If there’s a haiku
Do not assume it was me
Probably was, though

The fact that even the mastermind Moz committee here on Solo can't come up with possible ideas for a hit piece worthy article makes me think there's hope they have nothing in particular.

Has the Daily Mail been very negative about Morrissey in the past? I can only think of a couple recent articles, both very neutral and with generally positive comments from people there about Moz.

is it going to be one of those articles that claims he said a bunch of awful things and then he will say he never said those awful things but he really did because there's audio of him saying awful things?

Sometimes dreams do come true and for Uncle Skinny.. a wet dream is about to come true.

Why do I think the phrases, "thin gruel", "it's all about the money", "Nazi" and "my wife is a solicitor" are going to feature in the article?

Why not just have Jesse mouth off in some unhinged rant? It's all he's capable of, it seems. He has his head so far up Moz's ass he must know what he's thinking.

newspapers have always given people notice when theirs a heap of dung coming their way, they have done that for decades especially politicians

I wonder if he refused an interview request, and they replied (threatened) they’re going to do an article anyway. Didn’t this happen with NME or some other music rag?

If an article does get released, I would think it would come out, riding on the coattails of his tour

Or they’ve tapped into something none of us ever even thought about…
People thought Fred and Rose West were just a pair of randy swingers before the bodies started sprouting up with the daffodils.

Possibly, but I would hope the Daily Mail would avoid using the word “bunch”, which is only really for bananas.

It's unlikely to be a hit piece on 'dodgy right wing views ', as The Mail is right wing itself, and would support such stuff. More likely to be a spurned ex lover dishing the dirt.

Clearly he's been asked for comment, which questions who did they ask? he's got no agent or management that we know of. I bet they've emailed Sam offering a chance for M to comment.

Odd the DM would go after him, after all, their views typically align. Wonder what the story is...
Yes, it is odd. Morrissey's views (on Thatcher, meat industry, the royals etc.) used to set him at odds with the Daily Mail but he is indeed much more aligned to them these days. That's why the likes of the Guardian and the Independent, who were massive fans in the early days, are now strongly critical.
I guess having band members leave and there being two unreleased albums is a pretty big story that no-one else has picked up on so it would presumably generate a fair few clicks. It's a little odd that no other media outlet appears to have picked up on what's happened to him recently, but I guess there just isn't that much interest in him these days whether it's good news (e.g. Alain re-joining) or bad.
