Any idea where the one print is going after Chicago? The (f***ing irritating) official site has a box office lookup, but it doesn't recognize US Zip codes.

From clips I have seen of the film it looks too beautiful and mythic to me.

The last thing Britain was in the seventies was beautiful. Britain was naff and rubbish, like in Life on Mars.

I prefer an illusion of realism at least.

How? Was it released officially, or did you snarf it in the theater? Doesn't matter, really.

It played at the Austin Film Festival yesterday. I heard it is supposed to be out in LA and NYC very soon. So shouldn't be long.

Heard an interview on the radio about 10 mins ago with Anton Corbijn talking about his time spent with Joy Division & the making of the film 'Control' - it was a really good interview & Corbijn sounded like a very 'fun' kind of guy.

I went to go see it as part of a film festival in Chicago, but it was all sold out. I was surprised. I didn't think that many people would go see it. Joy Division is not well known here....

It isn't playing in Cleveland as far as I know. The closest to here it's playing is Pittsburgh! I'm going to have to drive two hours to see it now and I vowed to NEVER go back to Pittsburgh! Curse you Ian Curtis (okay, not really b/c I still want to have your ghost baby)!

The one thing that makes me apprehensive about "Control" is the fact that, according to every article I've read, it's supposed to be "based on Deborah Curtis' book Touching from The Distance". I really hope that the film is not based on this book only, or that at least attempts to be a bit less biased and one-sided... I really don't want to watch the filmed autobiography of Saint Longsuffering Wife-and-Mother Deborah Curtis, with supporting roles by Her No-Good Cheating Epileptic Husband and His Damn Band Which Is To Blame For Everything.

Hopefully someone who's seen the film can put my mind to rest in that respect?

I haven't seen it (obviously), but she is credited with co-writing the screenplay. And since her co-author isn't Annik, it doesn't sound like it's going to be a balanced treatment, does it?

The film is alot more objective than the book in my opinion, which is why it's so good. I read the book recently (after seeing Control) and she does paint him as a complete dick at times.
