Collecting "The Boy With The Thorn In His Side"

Hi Stephane

I've noticed that you aren't listing any white label test pressings for the Rhino releases - not just for Boy With a Thorn, but for any of them.

I wonder, is there a reason? Are you only listing the original Rough Trade UK white labels?

I posted about them earlier in the year http://forums.morrissey-solo.com/showthread.php?t=107158 and a quick look at Popsike reveals a few more

Just wondering... They aren't massively valuable, but they do appear quite scarce.

No, I list *everything*. Those test pressings belong with the "Singles Box" page, which I will do in a few months.

But because you're not the only one who's asked about this, I've made a few changes, you can look again.

In Brazil in the mid-80's the 7'' singles started being sold but quickly they became 'out of catalogue".

But wasn't the Brazilian single described on Passions a 7''? I say it because if it's written "mini LP" on the cover it meant it was 7''.. Mini means small.

There are huge differences in the Austra
lia and New Zealand 12ers. But as usual I am having trouble with photos. Stephane I will send the phots directly to you.

I have 15 different 12" pressings but still missing the Sweden issue. Does anyone have a copy for sale ??????????

How many "TBWTIHS" do you have?

Before I sold off my collection I owned 35 different items related to this single. It was among my favourite singles to collect, along with This Charming Man. I think I had everything on that page except the New Zealand singles, and of course the 2008 reissues (I started thinning down my collection in 2006). Now all I've got left is the Brazil promo 12" and the UK jukebox 7".

But isn't the record which contains "mini lp" a 7'' issue instead of 12''?

No Raphael, it's a 12".
TBWTTIHS was never released in Brazil as a 7".
The words 'Mini LP' refer to the fact that this a 12" record (standard size for an LP) but it contains only a few tracks.

Cheers,

I.R.

It's funny 'cos I always thought that this brazilian issue was a 7''.

Hey Guys...you're truly devoted.

I'd hardly call Dave2006 "devoted" when he can't even name the song title correctly (Boy with A Thorn...) and furthermore, questions what Stephane does or doesn't include on his quite brilliant website!

Dave's okay. I don't mind being questioned. "Passions Just Like Mine" has become what it is by putting together all the 'bits and pieces' from people like Dave.

I hope you are joking...

I hope so too.

I've never claimed to be biggest or the best collector round here, but my devotion has never been questioned. Apart from by my partner who questions it daily...

This is not a competition to try to find who is the biggest collector or even who owns more items. It'd be a big foolish. I don't name someone "devoted" only for knowing everything from Smiths/Morrissey, I name it when I feel that this person really understands Morrissey's philosophy. You should be ashamed of throwing offensive words with no reason. It's truly sad. AND DAVE IS A GOOD SOLOER.
