The fact that they openly mock and ridicule pretentious famous people is why I'm obsessed with Danish culture. But I also love Sweden despite all the current troubles. If you're in Copenhagen, it's the best of both worlds. And the Danes are planning to invade Sweden. Again!
Denmark wants to rebrand part of Sweden as 'Greater Copenhagen'
Country hopes incorporating southern Swedish region of Skåne will gain the region more business and visitors – but the idea is not universally loved

When I first heard 'Scandinavia' I rang my friend in Billund and he went beserk! He repeated the lecture he gave me when I first met him many moons ago. He doesn't recognise 'Scandinavia' as a valid concept and think the Swedes, Norwegians and Finnish should just f*** off. I just LOL'd at Morrissey's simplistic view of the world. Nobody with any knowledge of the culture, politics and humour of Denmark would write a song called 'Scandinavia', other than to troll the Danes, which is what Morrissey was doing, but they didn't rise to the bait. I choose to hear it as a prediction of Breivik, though at first I thought it was about Death Metal Suicide culture. You are being too hard on Swedish culture and politics, there's a LOT of amazing art coming out of Stockholm. I saw 4 of the 'Shaking The Habitual' shows. The Knife should do Eurovision. Pure genius pop and then radical genderqueer art. I like what they're up to with 'Europa Europa'. It's 'Word Peace Is None Of Your Business' on steroids. I dance around naked to this, just like a Dane or a Brit would do, but a Swede would just.....not understand....LOL!
I suppose I'll be called a troll and a hater for calmly pointing out that though Morrissey may spend almost as much time in 'Scandinavia' as BB, he is too lazy to get to grips with the dynamics of it all. To be far, the languages are at war with each other, pork is all over the menu except at NOMA, and the price of a coffee for a Brit in Oslo is........sigh..... Sadly, it means I don't visit as often as i'd like to , but I'm really looking forward to my June road trip.I was in Amsterdam in January and it's fun to compare it with Copenhagen.
