Show was AMAZING. My 10th Moz show. Some thoughts:

- Crazy queue outside venue, some people apparently waiting since noon or so.

- Kristeen Young was excellent. I don't get people's venom towards her. Crowd overall was pretty decent towards her tonight.

- Morrissey in very good spirits and of excellent voice. Sound at Congress Theater was not bad actually.

- EILS sounded better than any live rendition I have heard before. They really have it arranged perfect now.

- Good setlist, seemed a bit longer than recent lists posted, maybe due to postponement of original show date or the Walker's hometown of Chicago??

- Maladjusted and Lazy Dykes are two personal favorites and was thrilled to hear them.

- Meat is Murder was INTENSE. Visuals were really intense and upsetting of course, but musically they played it so heavy and fierce like that song needs to be. Just really incredible.

- I Know It's Over made me teary eyed...really incredible.

- Crowd was good and fairly enthusiastic, but not crazily so...UNTIL the encore! All hell broke loose, people flying towards the stage, some with success, others not so much. Security seemed surprised. A couple people made it to Moz, then they were coming from all sides, and Mozzer was whisked away...but the vocals for the song were completed by that point, so we didn't miss any of the song really. Crowd got really rabid as soon as encore started!

My 10th Morrissey show, and I would definitely rate it as one of the best I've seen.

Amazing show! 10th time I've seen Moz, and one of the best. He was in great spirits and great voice. Kristeen Young was outstanding. Highlights were all the Smiths material, EILS (best live version I have EVER heard), Maladjusted, Lazy Dykes. Good crowd that only got really really crazy during encore...All hell broke loose, people flying towards the stage, Morrissey whisked away, but completed most/all of Still Ill first thankfully.

Opening line: "Where have you all been? I've been standing here waiting 6 weeks for you" (reference to rescheduled Nov 11th show)

Also said twice: "Why don't you all just let me die already?" (Sorry Moz, you're ours forever!)

Overall Performance: I attended two shows in Los Angeles and this one, Chicago was by far the best!!!...

Don't forget: "Jingle smells, jingle smells, vomit all the way" hilarious!

Had a lot of fun last night! Met two very nice couples, one from New Orleans and the other from Chicago. The set was great but got even better with still ill. Got to touch Moz when during it, twice. Unbelieveable night that I won't ever forget.

Curious if anyone knows more specifically what he had to say about "the pointlessness of American presidents" (to roughly quote someone from above)?

He was talking about Lou Reed when he made this comment -- how much of an important American figure he was and is. He said, "This song is for (?) a very important American. And I'm not talking about all these presidents. Who needs them anyway?"

To round out the other post about the Promo videos in the beginning:

Bubblegum by Brigitte Bardot
Vince Taylor and his Playboy's There's a lot of Twisting going on
An interview with Dame Edith Sitwell

Of some importance: Kristeen Young played Nancy Sinatra's cover of Let Me Kiss You, Nico and the Velvets "I'll Be Your Mirror," "Redondo Beach" by Patti Smith, and a tune by Jefferson Airplane.

One of the best Morrissey shows I've ever been to me & my Wife are from L.A. And we thought that the people from chicago were so much more into the show than the fans in L.A!

Same here...glad we made the trip from Alabama.

Tour videos also had Shocking Blue's "Inkpot" and Sparks "Never Turn Your Back on Mother Earth."

I believe in reference to the jingle smells, it was actually "Jingle smells, jingle smells, jingle all the vomit!" Hope he plays Alma Matters tonight! Oh and yes, he did say that America's plans to bomb Iran stemmed from "penis envy."

Truly amazing set list. Hard to imagine a better one! Now I really wish he'd come to the east coast. Pittsburgh again? No? Ok, didn't think so.

can you tell to which song the people exit the venue?
-was it still klaus nomi or frank sinatra (used at shows a few years ago for example)?
feel free to add to this

there was some supposed quote from moz from twitter..did he say that as well?
I've noticed recently.. I've recently noticed.. The American government cannot wait to bomb Iran.
That is a little thing called "Penis Envy"

Does anyone know what happened towards the middle of the show, when that guy was escorted out of the building? A group of people center-stage were waving frantically and pointing down trying to get the attention of security guard, who then came and roughly took the guy out of a side door.

Great show. Definetly top 10 of the nearly 50 I've seen.

Came in from boston. I drank a lot of beer to mask the fact that I was sick with a sinus infection.

I don't remember when it happened, I thought this was right after Kristeen Young, but some asshole was trying to get to the very front of the pit. He was saying that he "knew" some of the people right in the front of the pit. The people had no idea who he was, so people were trying to push him back. Somehow he got back towards the front. He ended up next to me for most of the gig ):

I arrived late but got to see the following songs:

there is a light
every day is like sunday
maladjusted
first of the gang to die
people are the same
speedway
all the lazy dykes
satellite of love
meat is murder
ouija board
Scandinavia
i know its over
let me kiss you

still ill

he was in fine fine voice tonight - the band was outstanding. the jam at the end of the meat is murder with the film of animal cruility was chilling and amazing both at once.

some nice stage invasions during the encore. damn police spoiled some fun.

I agree WHOLEHEARTEDLY! Security was absolutely out of control! I hope to hear someone came to the defense of the couple of young men who were, I believe, duly unjustified in being treated as they were.

Go Back into the Studio Moz and get a Record deal ASAP. That is what matters now!!!
Cheers Moz

Did anyone act on CrystalGeezer's suggestion to assault a young fan from this site?

Was there an opening band?
What time did Moz start his show?
