Carole King and Gerry Goffin were husband and wife and they wrote the famous Goffin/King songs!!! Tin Pan Ally/The Brill Building stuff.
Carole King wrote "You've Got a Friend" on her own! It was on Carole's hit 1971 album "Tapestry".
James Taylor recorded "You've got a Friend" and he married Carly Simon in 1972!
James Taylor is the singer/songwriter most popular in the 1970s and yes he tried heroin too.
(He is nothing like the Funk band: The James Taylor Quartet which is quite different.)

Yes Andy I am quite familiar with Goffin/King songs.

I was under the misapprehension James Taylor was married to Carole King at one time.

Maybe they just appeared so well suited.

Forgive me.
