"Bobby, Don't You Think They Know?" release (Jan. 10, 2020); album sleeve revealed?

Some people reporting 'Bobby Don't You Think They Know' is on YouTube now, which would be the first from the forthcoming album.

But it isn't working for me. Got 9 views though.
E: Looks like the release date is 10/01/2020, as Anonymous suggested, which is why it is currently available in Australia.

Morrissey drops duet with Motown star Thelma Houston - The List

Excerpt:

Morrissey recruited Grammy-winning Motown star Thelma Houston for the epic duet, who said: "One of the biggest joys for me in this business is getting the opportunity to collaborate with other top artists.

"I love the challenge to see if what I do can work with what they're doing. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't.

"I think the blend of what Morrissey is singing and what I'm singing really works on 'Bobby'.

"And it was a lot of fun working with M in the studio too!"

The 'Mute Witness' singer's long-time producer, Joe Chicarelli, has teased that the upcoming LP, which is released via BMG on March 20, is "the boldest and most adventurous" record ever recorded by Morrissey.

He added: "I have now produced four studio albums for Morrissey.

"This is his boldest and most adventurous album yet.

"He has pushed the boundaries yet again – both musically and lyrically.

"And once again proving that as a songwriter and singer, he is in his own category. In truth, no one can be Morrissey but ... Morrissey!"

from the 30 sec clip i can access, it seems to be a proper duet with Thelma doing some crazy soulful shit over the top. Proper nice ;)

lyrics are as follows:

the pleasure you bring for us
whenever you sing for us
the pleasure you bring for us
whenever you sing for us

eighth track, a bomb, white mosquito
oh courese they know

BEAUTIFUL SNIPPET!!!!!!!!!!:thumb::thumb::thumb:

I SEE GOLD IN MARCH:thumb::thumb:

MISERY FOR LEPEW AND THE HATERS:lbf:

I've used a VPN (set it to Australia) and have listened to it twice in full.

My quick initial thoughts:

  • It's very long for a single (nearly 6 mins in total) so wouldn't be surprised if this actually isn't the 'official' first single
  • I like the song, really powerful in parts and the duet is great. But as above, I think they could have made this a 4 min song and cut out some of the instrumental
  • Definitely better than a majority of songs off LIHS and WPINOYB - it's not political and the lyrics aren't cringe!
  • I thought Spent The Day In Bed was great (especially as a first single) but LIHS was a real disappointment (particularly the second half). So if this song is more reflective of the album as a whole, we could be in for a good time. But I won't hold my breath just yet.

5 min 46, really? Sounds pretty different, for Moz-standards. A bit George-Aretha maybe ;)

Can't remember what site it was even on (Facebook maybe?) but somebody recently met Boz Boorer and he reportedly told him that the new album was unlike anything he had done previously. So intrigued to hear this in full...

Lyrics (from what I can tell, song is about someone in the closet?):

Ice snow, spikes blow, bobby don’t you think they know?

bobby don’t you think they know?

Aren’t you tired of pretending?

I know, your torture below

Aren’t you tired of pretending? (duet)

I know, your torture down below (duet)

Scag a shack, Mexican mud, little jo in the snow

Bobby don’t you think they know?

Bobby don’t you think they know?

Aren’t you tired of pretending? (duet)

I know, your torture down below (duet)

But, ah the pleasure you bring for us

Ah whenever you sing for us

Ah the pleasure you bring for us

Ah whenever you sing for us

Ah the pleasure you bring for us

Ah whenever you sing for us

Ah the pleasure you bring for us

Eighth track, A-bomb, white mosquito

Of course they know

Thelma: you ain’t fooling nobody

Snow king, toot-and-horse, then something worse

Bobby don’t you think they know?

Thelma: don’t you think they know, Bobby?

Oh, Bobby don’t you think they know?

But, ah the pleasure you bring for us

Ah whenever you sing for us

Ah the pleasure you bring for us

Ah whenever you sing for us

Ah the pleasure you bring for us

Ah whenever you sing for us

Ah the pleasure you bring for us

Thelma: everybody knows

Thelma: you ain’t fooling nobody

Thelma: lord have mercy for the man

Ice snow, spikes blob

Oh, Bobby don’t you think they know?

Oh, don’t you think they know

I know, your torture down below (duet)

Scag a shack, Mexican mud, little jo in the snow

Bobby don’t you think they know?

Bobby don’t you think they know?

Of course they know.

Thelma: you cant hide it, Bobby

ok

I like the song but it is far to long .I blame the producer again ( LIHS and world peace were very poor) i'm not a fan of the guy Moz uses..it should have faded out earlier around the 4:15 mark when the saxophone kicks in..

nice melody and music ruined by poor production.

Thanks! Just heard it for the first time.
Really fresh sounding single, Thelma is doing a great job. Unlike anything Moz has done before. Definitely has a Gimme Shelter-feel to it.

Agree, & I think good production by Joe Chiccarelli, although there are going to be those who might disagree on this one. Maybe too long for a single, so some snipping to do.
Moz & his music are like a fine wine: mature beautifully with age.

Agreed, although Gimme Shelter is nearly 5 minutes too. The organ I like, but there is no need for the ‘snow-ice’ comeback. A minute shorter and it would have been really good for radio. But we’re likely to get at least 2 other songs before the album release in March.

Please, please, please, don't let that be the album cover.

You know, it would be cool if Morrissey used Morrissey Central to get fans to create the cover for I'm Not A Dog On A Chain. The winner would also get a credit on the album. How f***ing cool would that be?
