Excerpt:

BMG Records have dropped Morrissey. Following the March 2020 release of I AM NOT A DOG ON A CHAIN
(#1 Scotland, #1 Poland, #3 Britain, #3 France, #10 Spain, #13 Germany, #2, #9, #17, #18 U.S.A. - depending
on which official chart you follow), BMG have appointed a new Executive who does not want another Morrissey
album. Instead, the new BMG Executive has announced new plans for 'diversity' within BMG's artist roster, and
all projected BMG Morrissey releases/reissues have been scrapped.

"This news is perfectly in keeping with the relentless galvanic horror of 2020," said Morrissey, "we would be critically insane to expect anything positive."

Morrissey is once again in search of a new label willing to release his music.

"My three albums with BMG have been the best of my career, and I stand by them till death. Recording them has been a pivotal period in my life, and I thank the previous BMG team and everyone involved for that. It's still important to me to do music my own way, and I wouldn't want to be on a label that dictates so specifically how their artists should behave - especially when the word 'talent' is notably never mentioned."

Morrissey's duet with David Bowie is now available on Parlophone via Warner.

"There are too many cases of successful artists languishing at labels who are no longer interested in them." Alistair Norbury, BMG.

Morrissey's Las Vegas residency remains in place for 2021.

Your mate Owen Jones was just sacked was he not from your bile bible, its happening to the lefties also

Aww, is that official?

I heard it was likely.

His book revealed that he was lying in Guardian articles to protect Labour & he keeps insulting his colleagues.

Daftie.

Has he been sacked has he? What for? That’s the best news I’ve heard all day, I hate that little c***. He’s such a wet drip.

And no, before the usual tossers pile in, not because he’s gay.
Not sure why but the Socialist now has a Capitalist YT channel where you can pay in verying increments to watch him drivel on.

Lying in Guardian articles to protect Labour?

What, is that news? I could have told you that years ago.

But the money again. He gets people into NDAs and confidentiality agreements just to work with him, and pay them to agree with him. It creates an unchallenged persona where his word is gospel, and if you're not prepared to put up with it, then f*** off. With no one to question him, because he's paid them not to question him, he's only going to spiral into his own world. With the inevitable results we are now seeing.
I know, I know. But it was all sort of inevitable, wasn't it? Jo Slee said, "He is evil in a way that damaged people are.". She meant that he hurts people and in doing that, hurts himself, on and on in an endless loop. I think if you have a bit of an acquaintance with depression, it's easier to understand.

Yeah, but the reunion is never going to happen, not only because of the bridges he's burned, but because he would never allow Joyce the money. For a number of very good reasons.
Yeah, I was just giving an example about the money.

Your average record company wouldn't have let him say he felt closer to transsexuality because it would impact sales - so he shouldn't be blamed too much for kicking against the system.

Commerce can be cruel.

But, it would be nice if he could find ways to be calmer.

Well, that's one take. Problem is he just likes spending other people's money too much, so being with a label affords him that. It really is that simple.
It’s really not. Things are rarely binary, but it’s an unfortunate facet of your own personality that you like to reduce things to a simple point and hold it up like a trophy to prove the wondrous distillate of your mind. Isn’t it time you told us about your tea bags again so we can marvel at your intellect? Your very astute lawyer wife? Your ground-breaking work in disinfectants. Winning a TV quiz. You see, we know all this because you HAVE to tell us, because you need to show us you are on a higher plane.
And in many ways, well, you’re just like Morrissey, who ate up your adult life and you can’t stop him dominating your weary trudge to the grave. Let it go.

Brilliant post. One of the very best I’ve ever read on here.

What TV quiz was it, I want to try & find it on the internet?

Is she the East Side Informant? Being off the record?

Surprised nobody has remembered this, so will throw it in the pot:

"Morrissey has described I Am Not A Dog On A Chain as:

" … the very best of me … too good to be true … too true to be considered good … ", and concludes Morrissey's contract with BMG Records."
('Rod Taylor').

I'd take emotive terms like 'dumped' with a large pinch of salt.
Not renewing a contract ≠ dumped.
Especially when it was a known in November 2019.

FWD.

They were still preparing for the release of the reissues though so perhaps they were still hoping/negotiating for an extension/new contract.

But yes, today's post just confirms it and makes it final.

True, but wouldn't he have had a greater chance at staying on a major label (and making more money) if he had ever been willing to compromise? He could have taken the biggest bait of all time and filled his pension fund with 'reunion' money but he never has. Morrissey is driven by his anger and unhappiness, that's why he will never stop. To the detriment of his music career and his relationships and probably everything else in his life.
I cannot imagine Johnny Marr working with a racist.

I'm confused, wasn't it announced over a year ago that BMG and Morrissey would be parting ways after he released I Am Not A Dog On A Chain?
Not a good year regardless

The thing about Morrissey is it's always someone else's fault? Always. He cannot understand why:

(a) The things he said are not conducive to a business wanting to make money from him
(b) Why he's still not as popular as he was back in the early 90s
(c) Why his chug-a-lug lyrical empty well doesn't chime with the kids of today

He thinks all those are someone else's fault. Not his. Serious question. When was the last time you heard/saw him apologise for anything or acknowledge wrong? It's never his fault. There's always someone somewhere to blame. And LAUGHABLY this time it's diversity. Seriously. Because if it wasn't for diversity, he'd still be top of the tree, right?

When you go down the right-wing rabbit hole, everything is someone else's fault, the 'man', diversity, Sadiq Khan, immigrants. It's all about the money for him, it always was and still is. He'll die a bitter lonely man, with a dwindling pot of money next to him as he sleeps.
NEWS: Morrissey is going to be lonely 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
