I know there are a few Bragg fans lurking around here... Billy has announced that the original Mermaid Avenue albums will be re-released with a 3rd disc of new unreleased tracks, plus the DVD of 'Man in the Sand' (note to Morrissey - this is how a reissue should be done - new material, bonus DVD, nice box...)

Interesting.

I love a bit of Billy.

Just as an aside I was lucky to be in California on holiday when he was promoting Mermaid Avenue Vol 1. He was doing mini gigs to promote it. I managed to catch him doing a set in Borders Books in Santa Monica. There were only about 10 people in . It was great had a good chat to him and bought the CD which he signed for me. Nice guy and a true songwriting talent. Dont try this at home is an all time classic for me.

I hated Don't Try This At Home when it was first released - in the same way that Dylan fans hated him when he went electric - but it has grown on me. I thought that Tank Park Salute was just twee when I was 16, but now (as someone who lost my dad a few years back and as a dad myself) I think it is stunning - one of his best.

Aye, bring a tear to a glass eye that.
