Beth Orton - any opinons on her music?

Anyone famaliar with her music?
I recently came across her name and was wondring if she is worth a listen.

Yes indeed. I recommend the Central Reservation CD. Some nice work with Ben Harper along the way too. Love Like Laughter and Stolen Car are two favorites.

that too is my favorite!

ok, its the only one of hers that i own, but despite the years of owning it, i like to pull it out on occasion and listen, which is more than i can say for most CDs rotting on my shelves.

She is absolutely wonderful. Her second album "Central Reservation" is somewhat of a 90's classic imho and her voice is one of the most touching I know.
And oh, I once included Beths song "Stolen Car" on a mix tape I sent to a girl I was in love with. She is now my girlfriend of six years and she says that my including of the song on the tape is what made her finally fall in love with me
