Best sentence in Morrissey-song?

Scarlet Ibis

The Chicken of D.C.
"I am human and I need to be loved."

You know, that song is SO over-exposed that I don't even listen to it that much anymore, but when I was a miserable lonely teenager that sentence would make me weep. ...For reasons even more personal than I'm willing to detail here. I hope to one day tell Morrissey why I asked him to write it on my arm.

Hideous trait.

But he already knows, that's why he wrote it. :)

Do you have larger photos of Moz writing that on your arm?

"Anyway, do you want to hear our story or not?"

You never knew how much I really liked you
Because I never even told you
Oh, and I meant to

Sums it all up for me.

Amidst concrete and clay and general decay nature must still find a way

I may walk home alone, but my faith in love is still devout

Gasping, but somehow still alive / this is the fierce last stand of all I am

There's more to life than books you know / but not much more

I am human and I need to be loved / just like everybody else does

He thinks he's got the whole world in his hands / Stood at the urinal

Vivid and in your prime, you'll leave me behind

I don't get along with myself / and I'm not too keen on anyone else

What she said, "I smoke 'cause I'm hoping for an early death, and I need to cling to something"

You might sleep, but you will never dream

"You become your parents' parents, and you love them, but you can't help feeling used. And still you look down at the teenage dad on his estate, because he's poor, but he's happier than you."

Oh so many wonderful lines to choose from, but off the top of my head I'll go for..

"What she said was sad
But then, all the rejection she's had
To pretend to be happy
Could only be idiocy
La la la la la"

"Kicking away from the mundane everday"

"I'm trying to explain to myself
I can have both"

" "But somebody's got to make it !" she screams
"So why why can't it be me ?"
But she would die if we heard her sing from the heart
Which is hurt"

There are not too many I don't love! I'll pick a few . . .

You can pin and mount me like a butterfly.

Where the slime and the grime gel.

Is evil something you are or something you do?

Dear God did this kind of thing happen to you?

As we gravely read each stone. (classic)

All the things I need and the things I receive is an ancient ocean wide, wild, lost, uncrossed.

I wear black on the outside cause black is how I feel on the inside.

I'll stop now.

Oh, almost forgot one of my very favorites:

Amidst concrete and clay and general decay, nature must still find a way.

Too too many to pick from. But here's a few to start with...

If they dare touch a hair on your head I'll fight to the last breath.

For whether you stay or you stray, an inbuilt guilt catches up with you, and as it comes around to your place at 5am wakes you up and laughs in your face.

Little lamb on a hill run fast as you can, good Christians they want to kill you and your life has not even begun.

Nature is a language, can't you read?

Does the body rule the mind or does the mind rule the body? I dunno.

I could list the detail of everything you ever wore or said or how you stood

I could go on and on and on... Great thread!

celibate

Forever Ill
if your names's with the best
will my name be on your guest list

heading the sky with a mouthfull of pie
everybody loves him, i don't/cant see why

ask me why and I'll spit in your eye
ask me why and I'll die
and if,...

etc.

so simple, but beautifull as a poet ,all those lines/parts of lyrics in this thread

Why pamper life's complexity when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat?

No. I don't have any photos of him writing that on my arm, actually. He had asked that no photos be taken of him that night.

I have some larger photos of him writing his name on my arm the first time I met him though. I've gradually added onto my tattoo.
