Best lyrics post 2000

I like much of the lyrics in TDOHE:

You chase in the rat-race
And you always feel so hollow
You marry because it's expected of you
And it only makes you feel more lonely

You become your parents' parent
And you love them
But you can't help feeling used
And you hate the teenage dad on his estate
Because he's poor, but he's happier than you

They're all laughing at you
You're a dipper, slider, cart-horse provider
Nobody cares about you
Just as long as you're out there bringing it in
Despising the grin on the face of the boy
With the methadone...

Also like the mention of the Jensen Interceptor (classic old car).
I was going to share this lyric.

In fact, I’d have chosen the entire lyric. Morrissey writes a lot of good lines in many songs but not many like Teenage Dad… where not a word is wasted.

It's a great track, clever lyric, and there's a simple, even moral/life, story there.

I apologise I grew old
I apologise I grew tired
I apologise I grew old

And now I live in oblivion
And it suits me very well
I live in oblivion
And it suits me very well
And the only thing that can kill me
Is the hospital food
And the only one left to visit me
Is you

I knew the best
The worst, the last
I knew them all
I set the world on fire
And now I'm tired

And now I live in oblivion
And it suits me very well
I live in oblivion
And it suits me very well
And the only thing that can kill me
Is thе hospital food
And the only one left to visit mе
Is you

Shove it in your mouth
Come on
Open wide
One, two, three
One more spoonful
Down the hatch
One, two, three
One more spoonful
There's a good boy
Oh, there's a good boy
There's a good boy
These are really hard-hitting lyrics.
For me there's just one flaw: the "hospital food" line.
I'm sure he could have improved on that if he'd have spent 5 more minutes on the song.

Oboe concerto
All the best ones are dead
And there's a song I can't stand
And it's stuck in my head
There's a song I can't stand
And it's stuck in my head
Oboe concerto
All I do is drink to absent friends
And there's a song I can't stand
And it's stuck in my head
There's a song I can't stand
And it's stuck in my head
The older generation have tried, sighed and died
Which pushes me to their place queue
Round, rhythm goes round
Round, round rhythm of life goes round
Round, the rhythm goes round
Round, round rhythm of life goes round
Round, the rhythm goes round
Round, round rhythm of life goes round
Round, the rhythm goes round
Round, round rhythm of life goes round

Diazepam (that's valium), Temazepam, Lithium, HRT, ECT
How long must I stay on this stuff?
Don't give me anymore

You swore you would not give anymore

If you're gonna sing, then sing
Just don't talk about it
If you're gonna live, then live
Don't go on about it
If you're gonna kill yourself
Then for god's sake
Just kill yourself

I live a life
I feel the pain
To sing this song
To tell the tale
I wish I never even heard the song
I see the world
It makes me puke
But then I look at you and know
That somewhere there's a someone who can soothe me

No it's just more lock-jawed popstars
thicker than pigshit
Nothing to convey.
Theyre so scared to show intelligence
It might smear their lovely career

It's like Moz read my diary.
I have this printed out and stuck to the wall at work. It helps get me through.

Could this be an arm
Around my waist?
Well, surely the hand
Contains a knife?
It's been so all of my life
Why change now?
"It hasn't!"

Another fave...

Do you recall when I was in love with you?
Do you recall the lengths I would go to?
I must have been out of my mind
