Morrissey has concluded recording at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles for Back On The Chain Gang. The song was written by Chrissie Hynde and was released by The Pretenders in 1982 when it reached number 17 in the UK, and number 5 in the USA.Joe Chiccarelli has produced Morrissey’s Back On The Chain Gang, and the musicians are: Jesse Tobias (guitars), Solomon Walker (bass), Matthew Walker (drums), with Roger Manning on keyboards.Morrissey is hoping for a summer release for the single.
Morrissey is presently number 1 with My Love, I’d Do Anything For You, and number 4 with Jacky’s Only Happy When She’s Up On The Stage in the UK vinyl singles chart.

I think this Morrissey Central is an invention of our beloved Benny The Butcher who kept quiet recently. An operation to discredit the lawnmovers....

If the news are true, for me , it is just a question of money .Moz owes money to Solomon and Manning and wants to avoid justice. A session , a publishing deal for a single which is a cover (not rights to intefer with Gustavo and Mando) and the lawnmovers back on tour.Possible news songs to be slaughtered on stage and in studio with Chicarelli.Not to mention the dreadful artwork of the past years (Jo Slee they'll never be)

This is supposedly for a new A-Side, though whether it will come out is another matter entirely (I'm still waiting for the live album from a couple of years back that Boz had apparently finished mixing, and the 'World Peace' reissue with the new cover artwork - both of which were announced, then...nothing).

What if.....This was a surprise summer hit and LIHS was re-released in Delux format with this and the extra songs already recorded and went to get to get acclaim the album rightly deserves!!!...A Big what if...most likely this post is cornering BMG to commit or not...probably in negotiations and the "hoping to release" statement assumes he has a contract where someone is actually interested in releasing an apparent one off single.....and to what end?....Hopefully not a covers album

My fault, you are right! Rose garden totally slipped my mind ,thanks for correction, there went my theory lol....but some how I don't see chain gang being released as a A-side unless......a duet with the Pretenders leader ..wow did I just throw that out there

Let's be honest, all Boz does is strum along the chords. I'm sure the band could easily cope without him in studio if he was busy doing other stuff (didn't he leave the 'Low in High School' recording sessions way earlier than everyone else anyway?)

Nevertheless, it is something of a first if Morrissey is going to issue something without Boz's involvement for the first time since 1991.
