Athens postponed

UPDATE 5:10 PM PT:

Morrissey's concert in Athens postponed, not because of his failing health - The Times Of Change

Excerpt:

The news came amidst speculation that his deteriorating health was the reason for the postponement, but it appears none of that is true. Morrissey missed the last leg of his flight from London to Athens due to a delay of the first leg from Dublin. Therefore tonight's Athens concert has been postponed with a new date to be announced soon. Already purchased tickets will naturally be valid for the new date.

An anonymous user posted in the earlier thread in Greek, had to use google translate:

Re: Athens postponed

Its just an excuse for not doing a poorly sold show. Lets hope ticket sales at the remaining dates have been brisk or else they are in peril as well.

The inevitable dreaded last leg of "need money fast so bleed the Euros tour 2014". With the exception of Athens, places that no sane person would be caught dead in.

Why?

Dublin 3 Arena: Monday 1st December
Athens: Tai-Kwon Do : Friday 5th December

Disembark from Dublin flight/passport control: 30 mins..Flight time from London to Athens: 3 hours 29 minutes plus 1 hour check-in. Customs/disembark: 30 mins. Travel to venue: 30 mins. Sound-check: 30 mins.

Even with a lunch-time flight, that's cutting it tight and assuming no traffic problems in Athens, which is notorious for it's grid-lock. I guess the sound-check was optional. Sounds like it at some gigs I've geen to. There will be tears of sadness in Athens tonight, I'm sure. At least it's a novel reason. Hope none of those Blue Rose folks are stuck out there.

Thats cutting it a bit fine isn't it?

This is the most tired, redundant story in music.

truculent- often
unreliable- absolutely

don't buy tickets- it's that simple. show the same disrespect to the artist.
let him cancel shows in advance due to 200 tickets sold....

It's just a case of the seven P's really

Piss poor planning and preparation leads to piss poor performance !
Maybe the budget can't afford a tour manager and once again the wheel has fallen off the covered wagon or you never know they could be rehearsing the set list with the new drummer/lawnmower part.
Nobody knows, it's Tosserrey's world and cancer, sorry cancel is his middle name.

So it's fine to disrespect fans (who aren't blessed with wealth like Morrissey, and have saved up money and taken time off work) by cancelling shows at the drop of a hat...

...but if someone disrespects Morrissey - a man who has been in this industry for three decades and really should have a thicker skin - by saying things he doesn't like, then f.uck you, he's taking his ball and going home?

Good double standards there, Moz.

Bow down to Morrissey, let's all be sycophantic slags towards him, if someone speaks out of turn the lights go up and Morrissey storms off stage.

He's now turned into the type of diva he criticised Bowie for being when he toured with him.

It's baffling that he cannot see that.

You people know that if the show gets cancelled you get your money back, right?

What about poor Zorba who sailed on a boat overnight from Crete?!! He won't get that money back, will he?

Or the young, tan Olive Boy who spent days walking down from the fields to the venue only to be told the concert was postponed (wait for it...cancelled). Who will pay his lost wages? **Sobs**

And the veggie food concession left with a mountain of hummous, salad & pitta bread they hoped to flog to Moz apostles...who will eat that lovely greek cuisine now?

Re: Athens postponed

Who is booking these flights because the longest delay today out of Dublin was 30 minutes on a BA flight.

Well indeed. So what was the real reason? Illness? Kristeen Young's errant nasal bugs? Ticket Sales? Or someone just not being arsed to go? If some one knows the real reason, please do tell us.
