Morrissey's Autobiography remains the number 1 selling paperback/softcover in the UK for the second week.

Alex Ferguson's autobiography is #1 in total sales this week:

Alex Ferguson beats rivals, smashes sales records - The Bookseller

Excerpt:

Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson's memoir, My Autobiography (Hodder), has become the fastest-selling non-fiction book on record.

The most successful manager in the history of British football, Ferguson's £25 hardback autobiography sold 115,547 copies in the UK last week—the biggest first-week sale of a non-fiction book since official records began in 1998.

...My Autobiography comfortably tops this week's Official UK Top 50 ahead of former number one Morrissey's Autobiography (Penguin Classics, 26,248 copies sold) and David Walliams' Demon Dentist (HarperCollins, 25,808 copies sold). David Jason's memoir, My Life (Century), and Helen Fielding's Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (Cape) complete the top five.

This is so funny it hurts. The delusional troll continues to move the goalposts of consensual reality, just as he did when claiming to be bigger than Madonna in Israel and bigger than Radiohead in Athens.

You couldn't make it up! Did Morrissey just pull this out of his arse? Let's do the income figures:

Ferguson £25 rrp x 115, 547 = £2, 888, 675

Morrissey £8.99 rrp x 26248 = £235,969

So, Alex has generated more than 10 times the sales income. To compare like-for-like, we need to wait for the first week softcopy/paperback of Ferguson, which will be humungous.

I haven't read Ferguson's book yet as I'm saving it for a holiday read. However, a brief glance at the text makes it clear he's a better quality thinker and it's written with more skill than Morrissey's effort. If only Morrissey had agreed to a ghost-writer/editor/green ink scribe to delete tin foil hat conspiracy thinking!

Of course, like football and music groups, writing is also a team effort of publisher, editor, writer and sales and marketing. Morrissey ignored his publisher over content, wrote badly without an editor and now seems to have been made to look a complete fool by his sales and marketing team's erroneous feedback.

What a wonderful finale to his grandstanding claims about his unintentionally hilarious debut as a author. Cue Cult members claiming that it's not about sales, but the 'genius' art of Morrissey, even though that's clearly not uppermost in Dear Leader's mind as he throws the laptop against the hotel suite wall reading the real sales figures.

Will Morrissey pay tax on his sales income from this book in the UK? Alex Ferguson, though rich, is profoundly socialist with regard to his politics, even if he was taken for a ride by New Labour frauds like most other people. But not BrummieBoy, obviously!

A lovely start to the day! More coffee, more lulz..!

Wow, amazing how stupid you are, of course Alex's was and always will sell more copies than Moz. Fair enough Fergie book is a better read, but as stated earlier Fergie is one of the most successful managers in history, managing the worlds biggest club for close to 30 years, the bloke was in the paper more or less everyday. Working with some of the biggest superstars in the sport and won everything. Stop making stupid compartments.
Rather confused why you come hear, is your life really that sad that you must spend days rocking the boat, get out and interact with people, will do you the world of good. Loads of other music about you know.

"Morrissey is one of the most successful singers in history, managing the worlds biggest music career for close to 30 years, the bloke was in the paper more or less everyday. Working with some of the biggest superstars in the music industry and won everything. Stop making stupid compartments."

Do you see how ridiculous you look, and Morrissey for bigging up his mediocre sales for an entirely mediocre book?

I assume you mean 'comparisons'? I'm not a carpenter, dear.

Yes, my life is that sad. Born to sorrow, just like Moz. I can't get out because I have agoraphobia, anyway, I'm not even due for parole assessment for another year. So, I'll carry on so long as the screws don't find this laptop when they search my cell.

I'm too busy having a job and school at the moment to read it but I will. Besides, being a fool is in fashion now.

You house-sit. Other than feeding companion animals, watering plants and setting alarm systems, what is it that you do? School? Haven't you done that for decades? Isn't it time to get a life? Like me, "here in Mom's Basement on disability eating buckets of KFC" etc.

If you think it's so ridiculous why did you read it 3 TIMES?!

Same reason I read Viz annuals or "The Thick of It" scripts: because it's funny as fcuk. Unfortunately for Morrissey, he didn't intend his de profundis epistle to be LOL'd to high heaven, but "That's Life!"

BrummieBoy, you must be the most bitter, obsessively hateful person I've seen for a long time. It's strange that you hate Morrissey so much, yet you're obviously worse than him. I find it difficult to understand; who hurt you in the first place? You hate Morrissey -> okay, so get the hell out of his fan forum and find something that you like. Nobody's forcing you to stay. What the f*** is so magnetic about Morrissey? This place is full of souls who spend years of their life telling us how much they hate Morrissey, and how painfully disappointed they are. Yet they're unable to move on, as if they were _physically attached_ to Morrissey's leg.

When it comes to Morrissey as an artist, the bitterness is part of the Thing. You're just another angry person on the Internet, and it's nothing but weird and tiring.

I wonder if he's homeless and he just spends his days in Internet cafes to keep out of the cold. The man's got to fill his time somehow.

Well, I've just finished 'The Book'.
Since everyone is giving their opinion I might as well give mine.
It's very dull so please feel free to ignore this post.
I loved it.
I don't care if the content is bitchy, untrue or egotistical.
Reading it was a pleasure.
It kinda ties in with how much I enjoy his records.
A monumental, UKIP supporting tosser he may be but he is a great technician.
He can write wonderful songs and, it appears, he can write a pretty book aswell, and as far
as I am concerned, that is all that matters.

Well said, I enjoyed the book and believe it to be a worthy addition to a lot of his recorded output. However I had no preconceptions about the book apart from that I would be extremely interested in its contents. It surpassed my expectations and what else can we have?

Obviously if you read the book and try to find fault with it you will. But I think those who are so easy to deride Morrissey as a nasty piece of work are evidently missing the pages and pages of monumental Morrissey pisstaking.

As it ever was and as it will probably remain.

Wow! Do i get a prize for being more bitter than your cult leader? One problem: I'm not. It's an act, a persona, an avatar, it's not who I am in real life. I'm loved by family and friends, rich, fit, handsome, have sex offered on a plate every time I go out the front door. I have a wonderful companion animal. I live in a spectacularly beautiful environment free from crime or the fear of it. I've overcome enormous obstacles that most people would objectively consider life threatening, but as the song goes "I get knocked down, but I get up again". Moz is actually a disgrace to the diasporan Anglo- Irish Catholic culture we both emerged from. He was brave and honest at first, but now, it's just a sad sham. I spend a LOT of time in Manchester visiting relatives and friends and there's a different story to be told about that city.

Oh, and he claims at slept on New Street train Station in Birmingham after a Patti Smith show at the Odeon? ....he's quite confused about New Street Station: no one was allowed to crash there because it was rent-boy central. He would have been taken into custody by Transport Police or taken to Steelhouse Lane for his own protection whilst contact was made with his parents. That didn't happen, so what did?..any of my 'pen pals' out there got any ideas? *thinking* *smirks*

Now, I'm 18 stone and trapped in Mom's Basement on disability
OR
I'm using the laptop at the mental hospital library but on a site that I'm not supposed to visit, etc

There's various amusing Gifs you can post to achieve the same FAIL!

Why would anyone disagree with your opinion? You're not interested if it's fact, fantasy or bitchy, you state it clearly and note his UKIP ravings, so I'm glad you've found value for money. I have too, as it's such a comedy classic. It's not as if you're pretending you're interested in literary criticism and critical thinking. I enjoy "Hello" magazine whilst waiting at the dentist. Same thing. Same quality of writing.

Hey Brummie, but that's the point. I think the quality of the writing is good.
Kinda like Hemingway or Lawrence, a couple of macho twits but great writers non the less.
I am not saying Moz is as great a writer nor am I saying I know a great deal about those writers but I have read bits by them and know they are pretty good.

By the way I just read your post on that other thread about women being attracted to bad boys.
I thought I knew where you were at. I was very suprised at the content.
I know you have no interest in getting approval from others but my only refuge is the hope that you were joking.
I have no doubt that you will inform me that you were deadly serious.

For any old school bookstore people in LA, Amoeba Records is selling the book. My soul dies a little bit everytime I download an album from iTunes and I'd sooner go to a Kanye West concert than buy something from Amazon, my roots are in independent bookstores. I called and they have it, so soon I will be less inexcusable and deplorable.
