I agree with you. I have loved Morrissey over the years but latterly have fallen out of love with him because of the shit he spouts. However I am going to see him with my 14 year old as she loves The Smiths music and some of Morrissey's material as well. She doesn't get politics at her age, when she's in her 20's, she might think differently but for now, she will be over the moon the minute he walks on stage at Castlefield and I will be happy to see her happy, irrelevant of my personal views.
If I can suffer through Britney Spears for my little brother (he was 13 and hormonal with terrible taste, I was 24 and utterly f***ing miserable) you can suffer through Morrissey bellowing about free speech and the sky falling.

Yes, exactly - the steps into totalitarianism are known and we are taking them. Now the USA is taking immigrant babies and toddlers away from their parents and throwing them into concentration camps. Who's next? Your children who smart off to authorities and get disappeared?
I'm not keen on being here, but I'm not quite to the point of driving North and asking Canada if I can sleep on the sofa. Like you said, the steps are known. It boggles my brain every day. And it's not a concentration camp, it's a "tender age detention center." It's getting really hard to not dissolve into depression. Thankfully anger is easy to come by and keeps us going.

Edited to add: The thing that frightens me about our rapid decline into totalitarianism is that in the past, you had word of mouth that hung you up and labeled you "enemy of the state" or "communist" etc. Many people were abused, but many more dissenters slipped through the cracks. Isn't it f***ing handy how this modern marvel known as the internet has left a perfect paper trail/personnel file on every last one of us? See you in camp, I guess.

Disgusting way to title an article, even if the writer expands on it in the article.

Morrissey is very much alive, more passionate, creative and expressive than ever.

all those haters and all those who ridicule him need to ask themselves this: if he's THAT bad, why not move on? Really. There's nicer ways to spend time rather than focusing on that which you hate.

Nobody would write an article like that if Morrissey were totally irrelevant. Anyway, that writer is too mainstream to be a Morrissey fan. If I were Morrissey I would be worried if all the media that man displays in his profile talks nicely about me. Even Trump would be worried.

There is a way to come to the USA without getting separated from family. Arrive legally, with permission. Foreign concept to most people.

Hello. I'm the boring, stupid, post-quarry parasite who wrote the article.

Not here to argue with anybody, just wanted to say a few things in my defence.

Firstly, I think I know how you feel. I hate anti-Morrissey articles and I wrote about how much I hate them in my own anti-Morrissey article, which I never wanted to write. To me, it always felt like they were written by people who liked a few Smiths songs and never made much of an effort to understand the intelligence and humour of the solo work before grasping for the moral high-ground. I'm not a big fan of the kind of moralist clickbait that seeks to divide people. So if you want to call me names and tell me to f*** off then that's fine, I understand that reaction. But please know that I didn't write it to call Morrissey a racist and I certainly wouldn't think less of anybody for standing by him either. But he has lost me (and quite a few others). Ultimately, he's said some pretty reactionary, upsetting, and let's face it, ill-informed things and I wanted to explore that with counter arguments and without throwing ists and isms around. And I think I did that. But I guess you can be the judges.

Secondly, before Morrissey was a singer he was a music critic of sorts and he wrote some pretty harsh stuff about his favourite artists and that's bascially what I'm doing. Yes, I have my own beliefs about the world and I tend to vote on the left, I also enjoy spending time with my friends on the right and disagreeing with me doesn't automatically make you prejudice. But if you can't politely engage with reasonable criticism of Mozza's statements, which one of us is the snowflake?

(Somebody made the point that I should I be writing about more important things like Trump and democracy, and I do. I couldn't resist an excuse to shamelessly self-promote myself)

Anyway... thirdly... say what you like about the New European but they also published a counter argument alongside my article which makes a lot of the points that have been made here. People can read both articles and make up their own mind. I don't think writers exist to tell people what to think or what to do, the best we can do is explain our own perspectives and let people come to their own conclusions. So if you read the article with an open mind you have every right to think I'm a boring idiot.

Oh and if you think the headline is "disgusting", that's nothing you should hear me play piano. :smirk:

You have the right to write anything about Morrissey and people here have the right to write anything about you. I guess you are very aware of it.

Undoubtedly a self-proclaimed “superfan,” as it is quite apparent from his picture that he was likely an infant or not yet born in the early 90s when the picture chosen was snapped. The pile-on gang of “fans” who are also media or public figures/musicians is a tired act. This brings me to Colin Meloy of Colin Meloy Sings Morrissey fame. He recently was quoted as saying Morrissey is a terrible person. For a guy who wrote an entire rock opera about infanticide and a murderous rapist, he sure has a great deal to say in judgment of his “hero.” Colin Meloy is nothing but a hack with a big head (literally) who has access to a thesaurus and clothes from the 1930s which make him feel edgy and “smart.” He is a an absolute creep clinging to relevancy. If Morrissey is run out on a rail and blacklisted everywhere (where isn’t he?... Tel Aviv, I suppose.) he will still have a legacy of lyrics and a prominent place in musical history. I was a fan of The Decemberists, but I have trashed all of their music and written them off.

Oh, there you go again-holding adults accountable for their criminal behavior & sucking their kids (or someone’s kids) into their mess. We don’t want to hear that ‘round here! Too challenging! It’s so uncomfortable.

'Tis a pity & a tragedy that he is still with us. If we had witnessed his actual demise two years ago (or more) we wouldn't have to be spectators to his sorry demise as a credible artist and be subjected to his continual barrage of vicious, bigoted, intolerant, divisive, narrow-minded, ethno-nationalistic, anti-immigrant, monocultural, jingoistic views. He has become a seething cesspool of nasty, unpalatable, abhorrent racist bile that spews forth from his ugly mouth like an unfiltered sewerage sluice. He's unequivocally dead to me now & the stench from his turgid bloated rotting corpse has sullied that windswept mystical air FOREVER. To say the least, I'm truly DISPPOINTED.
If Morrissey is all those things you say, then what the f*** was Hitler?

Get a grip.

Funny coming from a twat waffle such as yourself. Love the avatar by the way, because I read all of your comments in a Bobby Hill voice which is incredibly fitting.

Oh. Boy. You sure told me...

I’m not sure I can ever recover from having my avatar mocked. So, I guess I have no choice now but to keep living my life. You keep on being a useless c***, though. Never change.

Seeing that picture I came in my underwear. He never ever looked more gorgeous or had more purpose than back in those days. His one wish was to be adored by skinheads.

A young Boz Boorer in bleached skinhead jeans at Finsbury Park is the ultimate porn and why on earth did lefties follow Morrissey at all?
In the words of Rotten, ever felt cheated?

Take a look at the photo its, a DORK. :personblonde:
Who are they going to run out? They have no money.. while Moz fills up a huge arena with paying customers they have to piggy back onto his gig with...now get this... A FING FREE ISLAMIC EVENT.
Its like that ANGRY INCH movie PT 2. So people would wander by unaware and be robbed of their
belongings. They write in blogs, they have no job, only thing they produce is a bunch of jabbering.:thumb:

People forget it was a national front member that threw a coin at Morrissey at Finsbury Park and cut short the gig and not anti racist protestors like the news media back then reported so even in 1992 we had fake news.
Thanks to MTV for getting the story straight.

Will you foreigners stop posting pics of Steve from 1992, wake up. That could be a 1000 years ago, Steve is so far removed from that time, like you people should be too.
Please make sure to say hello to your dad Baghdad Bob, what a legend.
