I think this is even the same pick used in the, one of many, earlier stories proclaiming Morrisseys career demise

I wasn't particularly shy, never left the party early, only went home alone if I wanted to, and certainly didn't do much crying.

Guess that makes me a bad teen/young adult Morrissey fan back in the heyday.
The lazy birdshit-lickers always pretend they are 'superfans' before sticking in the knife. And every Moz fan is a moping depressive living in their mothers attic as they yearn to be understood. Oh phoney. That joke was never funny.

So is Morrissey-Solo your platform to spread your asshole and talk out of it?
Funny coming from a twat waffle such as yourself. Love the avatar by the way, because I read all of your comments in a Bobby Hill voice which is incredibly fitting.

It is YOU that has the ugly mind if you think Morrissey meant that the population of London were dead.
Do read up dear boy.
The line 'London is dead' is equally true of many cities and towns that have been over run by US bollocks. People don't speak English anymore. Moz was right about that. Now it's all "Happy Friday!" and "I'm all set" and "See you next Toozday". Politically correct unimaginative boring c***s.

I don't only want Britain out of the EU - I want all nations out of it.
I want the whole corrupt institution scrapped and all nations autonomous.
Why would I want a distant, remote government run by bureaucrats in Brussels? I want government to be more local and catering for the real needs of people.

But most of all, in fact, I want all ex-Morrissey fans to stop boring people with their petty righteousness.
Really there are far more pressing issues in the world. Dogging on Morrissey is just a pleasant diversion from the world at large, isn't it? Pro Morrissey, con, none of this affects anything. It's all virtual air being pushed, isn't it? If he died tomorrow, nothing would change except for half of the people claiming he's an asshole would claim he's a saint, and the records would sell better.

Hell, Portland is dead, Seattle is dead, San Francisco and Los Angeles are dead, Morrissey's career isn't dead, but it's on a ventilator and pissing through a tube.

OK he has views that some people, like myself, don't share. I disagree with him in some things and I agree with others. However, this is going a bit far. They are attacking him a bit much. They should concentrate efforts in writing against people who are spreading hate and xenophobia, like Donald Trump, Boris Johnson and many more. Politicians are far more dangerous! Don't ruin the life of an artist, because of his views. They are attempting against his persona and I find that going too far, a witch hunt.

More of the same from those who believe that unless your political views are in lockstep with the leftist socialist wing, you are lost! A racist! A ——(add inflammatory descriptor)ist of some sort. Get bent ya whiners. The man doesn’t have to share your thoroughly brainwashed version of how England or the rest of the world are supposed to look and behave. The loudest of the Left have demonstrated, with their pompous intolerance of anyone that doesn’t agree with their vision to any extent, that they are just desperate and laughable. I don’t agree with Morrissey’s opinions on everything either, but that’s not a reason to flip out on him. Get over it or go latch on to some other fantasy artist.

Just read a line in the article that says:

'In those dark days and nights following the EU referendum in 2016...'

Me, I was on cloud nine mate!

I think the thing with Morrissey, and any artist, is that they have the ability and potential to sway the non-politically minded, or people that the politicians can't reach. Arts doubling as propaganda, left or right are insidious. Teach a child to sing a song, they just notice the pretty tune. They lyrics are secondary. Therefore, when the arts become toxic, I think it's important to speak out about it when it does.

Don't kid yourself. When the people in power are done whipping the nasty immigrant problem into shape, they'll aim their sights on the populace in general.

Yes, exactly - the steps into totalitarianism are known and we are taking them. Now the USA is taking immigrant babies and toddlers away from their parents and throwing them into concentration camps. Who's next? Your children who smart off to authorities and get disappeared?

I agree with you. I have loved Morrissey over the years but latterly have fallen out of love with him because of the shit he spouts. However I am going to see him with my 14 year old as she loves The Smiths music and some of Morrissey's material as well. She doesn't get politics at her age, when she's in her 20's, she might think differently but for now, she will be over the moon the minute he walks on stage at Castlefield and I will be happy to see her happy, irrelevant of my personal views.

I nodded off about a third of the way through. Too dull to go back to.

To be fair, anything related to Morrissey nowadays is going to be boring, boring, boring. It would be a bleedin' shock if an article in the New European turned out to be the exception. Heck, I had to take Pro Plus just to type this, and I still had to take a nap halfway through.

Really hope Mozzer does a Skrewdriver cover just for the crack.

Hello. I'm the boring, stupid, post-quarry parasite who wrote the article.

Not here to argue with anybody, just wanted to say a few things in my defence.

Firstly, I think I know how you feel. I hate anti-Morrissey articles and I wrote about how much I hate them in my own anti-Morrissey article, which I never wanted to write. To me, it always felt like they were written by people who liked a few Smiths songs and never made much of an effort to understand the intelligence and humour of the solo work before grasping for the moral high-ground. I'm not a big fan of the kind of moralist clickbait that seeks to divide people. So if you want to call me names and tell me to f*** off then that's fine, I understand that reaction. But please know that I didn't write it to call Morrissey a racist and I certainly wouldn't think less of anybody for standing by him either. But he has lost me (and quite a few others). Ultimately, he's said some pretty reactionary, upsetting, and let's face it, ill-informed things and I wanted to explore that with counter arguments and without throwing ists and isms around. And I think I did that. But I guess you can be the judges.

Secondly, before Morrissey was a singer he was a music critic of sorts and he wrote some pretty harsh stuff about his favourite artists and that's bascially what I'm doing. Yes, I have my own beliefs about the world and I tend to vote on the left, I also enjoy spending time with my friends on the right and disagreeing with me doesn't automatically make you prejudice. But if you can't politely engage with reasonable criticism of Mozza's statements, which one of us is the snowflake?

(Somebody made the point that I should I be writing about more important things like Trump and democracy, and I do. I couldn't resist an excuse to shamelessly self-promote myself)

Anyway... thirdly... say what you like about the New European but they also published a counter argument alongside my article which makes a lot of the points that have been made here. People can read both articles and make up their own mind. I don't think writers exist to tell people what to think or what to do, the best we can do is explain our own perspectives and let people come to their own conclusions. So if you read the article with an open mind you have every right to think I'm a boring idiot.

Oh and if you think the headline is "disgusting", that's nothing you should hear me play piano. :smirk:
