Morrissey isn't retiring. . .he's just either trying to help ticket sales (think about it), or he was pissed off at the guy who laughed when Morrissey mentionned he was in a car accident. And the tour isn't selling out because the venues are too big, at a bad touring season, with Morrissey ticket prices too high, and such a short time for them to sell between the time they went on sale and the show date.

well, Boston shows were nearly sold out, I'd say. Certainly 85-90%

But anyway, I agree with what you say. I tend to think people shouldn't read too deeply into these 'farewell' comments.

Yes, maybe, but Moz isn't. Which is the whole point, really,

Morrissey is not going to retire. Why?

1) He loves money, just like everyone else, I don't care what you say

2) He loves being adored, and having people fling themselves with reckless abandon toward him/the stage just to TOUCH him

3) He 'simply loves to sing'

4) All he 'ever wanted in life was to be famous;' why wouldn't he enjoy one of the few highlights of fame (adoration, people screaming your name and crying, feeling like a god when one is onstage)

4) What the hell else is he going to do?

He might've made those comments, as someone else said, to try to sell-out the remaining venues/dates, etc. He ain't goin' nowheres.
