But I don't feel that way about the Brits, their culture, or their choices of religion. I've got better sense than that. Do you?

Beyond that, "USA" is not a "word".
Usury is definitely a means for the haves to exploit the have-nots, though. How did this come to be anyway? I am always interested in the origins of things. I would think it began as soon as people began using any sort of currency. Without money, especially state controlled currency, it would not be possible to have abstract sorts of debts. If we trade real property, I don't think it is likely that anyone could accumulate the sorts of debts that occur when concepts like "compound interest" enter into the equation.
