Any Idles fans here?

Yep, It's fabulous, can't decide which I prefer most Joy or Brutalism

"raw and honest and too loud to ignore", it's been a long time since I felt this excited by a band.

I really like them, saw them live last year and was a very energetic live show. My mate hated them. Sign of a good band that they can be so Marmitesque

He is a great frontman.

That’s cool and I’m not trying to put him down or anything but it just doesn’t connect to me. Sounds like he’s got lots of energy but I dont care for his voice or really even the melodies. They seem to be doing well for themselves though as pitchfork just reviewed the new album

Another socialist, pro-immigrant, pro-open borders modern rock band. That's sure to set the world alight :sleeping::sleeping::sleeping::sleeping:

They'll get plenty of promotion in the media anyway and on the music sites/whatever's left of the music press, for having the "right" opinions. Even though they're mostly tuneless and would receive very little exposure otherwise.

If they were writing songs about mass immigration's effect on the environment and on the morale of the people in the countries expected to absorb it, and if they wrote about the elites who get richer from it, and the politicians who turn the other cheek to the upsurge in crime as our societies come apart at the seams and how bleak the future looks as it'll only get worse --- if they wrote about all this instead of songs about Brexit and the desirability of countless Nigerian mothers-of-three entering the country, then they would receive no column inches at all, except to be vilified for their "hate".

"THE I THE D THE L THE E THE S THE Y THE O THE U THE A THE R THE E THE A THE B THE U THE N THE C THE H THE O THE F THE C THE O THE N THE F THE O THE R THE M THE I THE S THE T THE F THE A THE G THE S THE S THE O THE F THE U THE C THE K THE Y THE O AND THE U."

fyi - the average number of children born to every woman in Nigeria is closer to 6. And for every woman that lives in the north, it is substantively higher than 6

fyi#2 to everyone else - that band missed Green Day and the Chili Peppers in the 90’s, not to mention Rancid and GWAR. Green Day in the 90’s were touring holes-in-the-wall and sleeping in high school kids’ basements. They were still bad then too, and Anthony Keidis was still a dick, what else is new.

Idles are like, “We can’t do anything better. But we’re gonna do it anyway!”

“And we’re from Bristol. And it’s now 2018”

It’s like the time after Avril Lavigne was already melting people’s tvs and radios in every single country with how often she was on.

They were at one point in time still trying to pitch her as “authentic” and not bubblegum skatepark fake,

And then she gave an interview and they were like, sonething along the lines of “You must be heavily influenced by David Bowie, considering how many influences you have”

And she looked at them completely blankly and she was like, “who’s david bowie?”

I mentioned Nigerian mothers-of-three because it's a reference to a lyric in their song 'Danny Nedelko' -- in which the lead 'singer' speaks about "unity" and "community" and then unironically finishes the song by spelling out "f*** you" (I reference this too at the end of my above comment) to anyone who disagrees with the point of view he's putting across. Because Bristol wasn't 'unified' prior to late 20th century mass immigration policies.

I don't recommend that anyone here goes to YouTube and looks at videos from early 20th century England -- I saw one recently from Morecambe -- because you'll be surprised by just how divided they were as a people; utter chaos! Granted, everyone in the film looked joyful, running alongside the moving camera, laughing and waving, but they were obviously masking their pain -- a pain which could only be eased by allowing Nigerian mothers, Polish butchers, and Somali long distance runners into the country to create a more tight-knit sense of community, as Idles helpfully outline in the aforementioned song.

I'm glad this band shined a light on the "unity" we'd otherwise be missing out on, and in case anyone didn't realise it they got a "f*** you" to help them to understand it more viscerally. From the UncleSkinny school of political discourse. Because nothing says "community" like many dozens of nationalities all living together in one place. They share the fact that they've got nothing in common, in common. It's worth becoming a minority in your place of birth if it means you can bring in an occasional Somali runner who wins a gold medal for your country in a competition.

Hopefully my country continues this mass immigration experiment until the point in time where we get a strong enough international football team together to win a World Cup. The France school of immigration policy. Imagine how many World Cups we'd have racked up by now if we had begun this policy 100 years earlier -- a regretful consideration which doesn't bear thinking about. Sure, I might end up feeling like a total stranger in my own town - don't tell Idles I said that! I might get cursed at - but at least millionaires on the television in my country's colours will have kicked a ball into a net and won a cup and I can have an alcoholic beverage in celebration. Completely worth it:tiphat:, as it is to everyone else who isn't a massive BIGOT!! -- (I bet the rainbow colours offend the sensibilities of all you bigots out there as well, isn't that right, well get used to it because the future is GAYYYYY! The future is a black disabled pansexual non-binary intersectional feminist undocumented migrant Muslim twerking on your face forever, right next to a pile of toppled, burning Confederate statues, and don't you forget it!

^^ I can't believe they allow Nazi propaganda videos on YouTube!

fyi - I agree with the rest of your quoted post, love your work as always scanty, you're a morrissey-solo.com treasure

I just needed to come back and read this again, because honestly, the future IS that non-binary, intersectionalist Muslim vegan ex-transexual twerking on all of our faces forever.

It’s what they invented cyanide pills for though. For when you’re just OVER IT

I'm very, very VERY excited for this. Counting the minutes in fact. I feel like I'm being taken back to my childhood, 'how many more sleeps to Christmas,' or as I now correctly call them, the holidays.

Came across this Keep Austin Weird video this morning. Fun to see them milk testing and running around. My brother lives outside of Austin and I’ve been to that Whole Foods. In fact it’s ground zero for Whole Foods, in general. And I agree on their milk pick. Austin is definitely a weird place. In a good way.
