Was on the Trojan Records site, and found this:

"Highlighting the early seventies sounds favoured by the so-called Suedeheads, this set features an array of well known tracks by the likes of Desmond Dekker, John Holt, Lee Perry and Dennis Brown, there are a host of rarities that will be new to even the most ardent Reggae fan. With this long overdue collection the much overlooked Suedehead era finally receives due recognition."

I always thought Moz took it from skinheads who had let their hair grow out. Maybe it was both?

Yeah, that's what suedeheads were! Reggae loving white kids whose hair wasn't quite as clipped as skins.

Anyway, he took it from the title of Richard Allen's book 'Suedehead' - a cult 70s paperback with loads of sex and violence about such a character.

You must be a yank?

Maybe it was both?

Yeah he was probably about to get some and pulled out his Trojans and said "thats is SUEDEHEAD"....oh wait those arent condoms
