The long version is the one you want. You hear a lady (Street's wife), saying "Steven....STEVEN!!!", as if Morrissey's mother is calling him back from the brink of marriage in the manner of a mother calling her child in the playground. Genius.

I have owned this CD single, long version of "Will Never.." for 20 years (since it came out) and never heard the "Steven, Steven" part until now. I've always heard the "playground" sounds, but never really heard what they were saying. Are they also chanting "Steven"?
But now I hear the "mother" calling him.

It takes a pair of headphones to let one hear what is really in the recording.

I have always liked this song and others of its era for the string arrangements. I would like to hear Morrissey go back to this sound...but you can never go home again.

Having to track down everything seems to be a bit of a habit of mine, some might say a problem....But, it sure is great when something really hard to find suddenly shows up.

Thanks very much, it didn't want to work at first, but just got it now. Sounds great. I had a copy of it but it was the absolute worst rip I've ever heard. It was totally messed up with uneven volume. This is a great upgrade. Another off the list
