He performed this with Red Lightning in 2008 - here.
Regards,
FWD.

He wrote the most stuff, certainly, but average song quality was way down on other composers.
He and Marr both wrote close to 70 songs each.
Of Marr's 70 songs, 50 were amazing, 15 were good to great, 5 were a bit rubbish.
Of Whyte's 70 songs, 10 were amazing, 30 were good to great, 30 were a bit rubbish.

  4. When last I spoke to Carol
  5. Never played symphonies
  6. Why don't you find out for Yourself
  7. It's not your birthday
  8. First of the gang
  9. The edges are no longer parallel
  10. Used to be a sweet boy
Marr's 5 rubbish ones:
  1. Miserable lie
  2. You've got everything now
  3. Meat is murder
  4. I don't owe you anything

Whoops - I've just given the Alain top 10 but I forgot Swallow on my Neck.
Remove Sweet Boy, add Swallow!

That's interesting. I'm having a drink with my headphones and listening to Depeche Mode at the moment but i am sure that i can come up with a rebuttal later. That Alain list looks like it'd be a hell of a playlist.

My original point, i think, was that Moz has worked with two amazing songwriters in Alain and Johnny. Johnny will always win, but now Alain is gone, and has been gone for ten years, something is definitely missing. I don't think Alain's songs, for the most part, are BAD - usually they've been given a damp squip of a lyric. I'd have to proper sit down and go through the 91-09 years, but I am sure I can find examples.

I remember Marr complaining about Some GIrls - it's a similar thing. It's a beautiful piece of music, and a bit of a shit lyric. I think Roy's Keen is an abomination, but that's not Alain's fault.
