Oh, good list. Hmm..

1.) The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
2.) The Verve - Urbah Hymns
3.) Radiohead - OK Computer
4.) Tricky - Pre-Millenium Tension, or Maxinquaye (dead even)
5.) The Sundays - Blind (give it a chance; it's fantastic)

Just out of curiosity, if the subject above didn't read "other than moz," would any of you list any of his as one your albums of the decade? If so, which one? I think "Your Arsenal" might have a shot, but... pretty stiff competition, don't you think?

Re: 5 top albums of the decade (other than moz) -- plus little Morrissey question.

I would list "Southpaw" and "Arsenal" in that list for sure...Those albums were the nails in the coffin(thank god) for that Smiths-esque sound which he held on for with "Kill uncle" and "Viva". I love the Smiths, but I really love his solo efforts much more. Even though Kill Uncle is probably his worst record, it's pretty much better than most things out there...somebody really likes THE PROMISE RING?!?!
I also noticed that somebody below listed GODFLESH "Selfless" you sir/madam have excellent taste. One of the best and most un-noticed bands of the decade next to Skinny Puppy.

I like these "other than Moz" kind of list because I would put all Morrissey cds in all first places in my list and this would sound ridiculous (but true anyway).

The Holy Bible - Manic Street Preachers
The Bends - Radiohead
Blue Lines - Massive Attack
everything and anything recorded by Morphine

Personally, I feel that 1979 sucks. They're just so...so..."Non-". I can't really think of a way to describe why they're a bad band. They just are.

Re: Count me in

I think Billy Corgan (or whatever his name is) WHINES. Plus the pumkins tell me nothing about my life.

Re: Count me in

I had a big discussion sometime ago with somebody that considered that here was not the place for discussing Smashing Pumpkins.

Anyway he liked 1979.

There's so many ways of hating the Smashing Pumpkins, you know.

Wow, great choice by the way. The Sundays "Blind." One of my favorite albums in my collection. I don't know what other albums to put on a best albums list of the decade because a lot of people here picked albums I would've picked out. Oh, that's right. I would've added Jeff Buckley's "Grace" and the Throwing Muses "The Real Ramona." What do y'all think?

Definitely, stiff competition. Yet, my vote goes to "Vauxhall &I." "Your Arsenal" is just behind "Vauxhall & I" gaining a great amount of momentum.

Aw, shoot! I forgot to add...

R.E.M.'s "Automatic For The People." I had to since everyone else didn't.
