Went with some enthusiasm to see a hero last night.. And I say enthusiasm not lightly as I'd lost a bit of interest in Marr after seeing him at the Scala a couple of years back where his lack of unique style (failing to be a half convincing Liam Gallagher clone) and his ponderous rock stance was faintly irritating.
Anyway, got Boomslang the other week, and it's a surprisingly good album, but last night was even better. He was really good live. He rocked and rolled, not a trace of any Smiths stuff, (maybe a slight chord here and there in a tune up)and despite a caustious and respectful audience, seemed to enjoy himself. the songs were good, the vocal was pretty good (but not his best asset) and the guitar sounded the best its been for a while... even if the genreal sound was a bit off every so often. A great night.. a few brand new songs were played as well and I suppsoe theres a chance he'll be on the festival circuity this summer.. But why does he have to chew gum all the time..
Ok, there you have it.. and here's a photo.. he did actually pose for me for one after this, but the flash failed me.. so he just got on with the music.
