Re: the definite 14

how the f*** did I forget Speedway? Mental...

14 is a rather arbitrary number, don't you think? any particular reason for choosing it? anyway, here is my list, in no particular order except a random one:

yes, i am blind (such a sad, sweet song)
the boy with the thorn in his side (do songs get much more gorgeous than this?)
barbarism begins at home/the headmaster ritual (those songs are connected for me -- yes, it's cheating. do i care?)
there is a light that never goes out (makes me cry)
southpaw (stunning)
stop me if you think you've heard this one before (i used to be obsessed with this one)
everyday is like sunday (duh! such a classic, even if he does play it at every freaking concert)
tomorrow (a perennial favorite of mine)
whatever happens, i love you (so sexy)
jack the ripper (threatening but romantic)
hand in glove (the song that started it all)
i keep mine hidden (technically the last smiths song ever and a rollicking little ditty -- reportedly one of morrissey's favorites)
the last of the famous international playboys (i love when morrissey lets loose at the end)

and finally, you're the one for me fatty -- because i still entertain hopes that he was singing that song about me. just kidding.

i think every time i make a list, it changes. "...i've changed my mind again..."

Ok, I'll have a go. I just gotta remember not to go back, and stick with just 14. Not neccesarily the best, but my favorites.

Not a bad list, leafs. I could make 14 different lists of my 14 favoirte Morrissey/Smiths songs! I know it's over and there is a light are at the top definatly, but why in God's name is Still Ill not on your list???? And Speedway? I should have put back to the old house on mine, I love how simply he illustrates mixed emotions, "I'd rather not go,... I'd love to go" Beautiful! Sorry I haven't emailed you back, I've been meaning to, I guess I've just been thinking of something to say. I haven't gotten those pictures of me & johnny on a disc yet, I've been sick a lot and busy all the time. I'll email them to you as soon as I get them. Later, jenny

14 is the perfect number for a compilation album aint it?not obscure to me..............

> 14 is the perfect number for a compilation album aint it?not obscure to
> me..............

on a compilation album, 14 songs is scandalously few. 16 or 18 is better.
