This is my opinion so accept it, you may have a different opinion, opinions are like potatoes and vary widely, so this list could in effect be likened to say a Maris Piper and your opinion could be likened to say a King Edward, do you see about the tattie analogy, one is good for Baking and one is good for Chips. For variety you could try baking a medium sized sweet potato in the microwave for approx 4 mins - always prick the skin with a fork first - and then serve with Butter, delicious (in my opinion).
- Paul Simon - Where to start? "Slip Slidin' Away" is as good as any!.
- J Brel - "Ne Me Quitte Pas", listen to Scott Walkers cover first if you don't speak French (If you go away).
- Kirst MacColl - a song for every mood but "All I Ever Wanted" which she wrote about both her father Ewan and Steve Lillywhite.
- Ewan MacColl - Not an admirable man in many ways but "the first time ever I saw your face" was only just pipped by "Dirty old Town".
- Johnny Cash - The legend who couldn't get a record deal!!! sound familiar??? when he did he came back fighting with the American recordings, try "The Man in Black" , "The Man Comes Around" or "Solitary Man"
- Morrissey - Well he had to figure to be honest - No suggestions only my current fave "Friday Mourning"
- Dolly Parton - The Grand Dame has a hatful of hits and "I will Always Love You" subsequently murdered by Whitney stands right up there!
- Don McLean - one word, "Vincent"
- John Denver - "Annies Song" you know it, "you fill up my senses", would bring a tear to a glass eye!
- Noel Gallacher - "Half The World Away" I mean who wouldn't want to move to Oz or NZ?????
Well thats my sack of spuds, so to speak
