Morrissey Central “MORRISSEY 2023” (December 8, 2022)

Studio time is booked for January and February 2023 when Morrissey will record his new album WITHOUT MUSIC THE WORLD DIES. The recording will be the fifth Morrissey album produced by ten Grammy winner Joe Chiccarelli , and the band continues to be Jesse Tobias, Gustavo Manzur, Alain Whyte, Juan Galeano and Brendan Buckley. The 12 songs were written by Morrissey with Alain Whyte, Jesse Tobias, Gustavo Manzur. There is no record label as yet for the project, and ways to attain global distribution are being researched.

Morrissey commented:

"The songs, of course, are magnificent, and even the relentless difficulties we have experienced recently are not enough to kill us off. "

Morrissey's last album release was 'I Am Not A Dog on a Chain' in March 2020, which charted at #1 in both Poland and Scotland, #3 in France and England.

And don't forget when he acted as an apologist for Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein and blamed the victims in an interview with Der Spiegel, denied he said that, and then Der Spiegel released the recording in full.

Oh no, we’ll never forget.

I assume you’re on solo to find out info about shows, recordings. etc. If true, then your interest in him does show a love and support for him. So I guess what you posted above doesn’t really bother you or others that much, otherwise you probably wouldn’t continue supporting a person who’s views you may find reprehensible.

redacted loves my posts, lol

lol, what a mess. One single released from BOT, no album. I Am Veronica still not out as a single, and now BOT not even acknowledged in lieu of a new-new album.

I take it this new record won't have a title track song going by the album title.

Let's just put together a live album of BOT.

New Year’s is always the perfect time for fresh starts and for new beginnings, and this was a super nice post on Central, with all GREAT news and with so much to be happy and excited about.

The fact that this was shared in early December, for me, makes what is already a festive time of year by default, feel even more special. I love this news, and I’m thrilled that there’s so much to look forward to, as soon as even this immediate year ahead ❤️

I'm pleased he's got Joe C back, he produced some great albums for Moz. It's interesting that Watt hasn't (apparently) been re-engaged for the next album.

Maybe, if they're in the studio Jan/Feb, Joe could re-produce BOT & 'fix' any wrong doings, then release an improved BOT album in April 2023, which someone mentioned might be the actual release date.
I would like them to do their homework again because the arrangements of the live version are much better imo, not to mention his vocals.
But it is not a Morrissey thing to do, is it?
If he admits to some shortcoming on BOT, there goes his publicity for his BEST album.

So obviously, it’s safe to assume the demos or concepts for these 12 songs have been recorded in some form or another right ?
He said the album is written in the Dodwell interview.
The album has a title.
@Ryan what do you think?

It's been written but still has to be recorded I think.

This is good news. Sometimes I think he rushes to release an album when really he simply doesn't quite have enough top quality songs. In my view he should build up a collection of 20+ songs and then release a super strong album with some great b-sides/teasers/bonus tracks. These days he records 12 songs (3 or 4 are great, 5 are good and 3 or 4 are a bit weak) but they all make the album and there is nothing more to show. Lets face it Morrissey's output has always ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous and sometimes the ridiculous tracks are ridiculously good and sometimes they are just ridiculous. Looking at what we have heard from BOT we can already see some sublime (Stained Glass Window, Veronica, Rebels) and some throw away (Sure Enough The Telephone Rings - Kerouac Crack) that really should have been thrown away. That seems to be the case in more recent years, the albums have wonderful moments but are a little thin. Recording 20+ songs before releasing anything would give real strength in depth. He is capable of making a really strong quality album that captures the general publics imagination once more but really it takes 2 sessions not one. It would also be much more attractive to a record label if he had more to offer.
I agree, however, we don't know the status of BOT and if he has the option of repurposing any of the songs. If it's the case that Capitol owns it that's probably not possible.

I don't need to justify my fandom and relationship with Morrissey and his music to anyone, but don't take that the wrong way, and I will anyway.

I have a love-hate relationship with Morrissey. I love who he was, and hate what he has become. I have 6 Morrissey/Smiths tattoos on my arms (one of them a large, realistic portrait), so I do truly love what Morrissey once was. I've collected all of his records over the years, spending thousands of pounds of my hard earned cash.

I've been posting on solo for about 15 years, previously on a different account, and I still come here in the hope that we'll get some good, non-controversial news one day. The things that Morrissey has said and done do actually really bother me, quite a lot, because I, and many others, have invested so much time, love and money in the Morrissey that was, yet he indirectly insults us at a seemingly increasing rate.

But, unlike people like Skinny, and yourself (seriously, no insult), I try not to take sides these days (e.g. Morrissey is the greatest ever versus Morrissey is pure scum), and just take him for what he is: like many other (mostly male) artists of his calibre and his generation, he is an incredibly flawed man, just like the rest of us, who also happens to be one of the greatest lyricists and vocalists of his time. He's a massive dickhead, but he's our massive dickhead, just like some weird uncle who you can't help love despite his incoherent ramblings and conspiracy theories.

if so, it’s not bad, don’t care for the font.

The font looks like it has objects/pixels around it. Sam doesn't know how to make a clean PNG image?

Moz is no different than he has always been. Saying things against the grain. Voicing ideas and points of view that are against the orthodoxy and received opinion. If you have grown to 'hate' that about him - maybe you need to question what you have become as you have grown older, and your ability to tolerate difference, or dare I say it, your ability to tolerate diversity of opinion.

Saying things against the grain, which he's always done, is one thing, but openly praising far right political parties, openly xenophobic comments and defending a rapist and sexual abuser is a completely different thing. Both you and I know that.

I can imagine that I'm probably far more tolerant of Morrissey than what you are, considering I fundamentally disagree with many things he says, yet I still enjoy his music, and I'm far more tolerant of others than Morrissey is and, I expect, more tolerant than you are.

Exactly. I think that it's great that even folks that have problems with his ramblings are here to generally support him. But they don't shut up about the controversial parts as Morrissey himself wouldn't do (as in "always saying things against the grain"). And still they are here because of his legacy. So I guess music and art brings people together. But it's important to criticise things and have a healthy discussion, where its due.

Absolutely. I'm still here, despite Morrissey's incessant ramblings, because he's like family to me. His music has gotten me through so many events in life, both good and bad, and it has inspired me. I wouldn't have turned veggie (and subsequently vegan) without listening to Meat is Murder. I criticise him from a place of love, because it's hard to see someone you love change, and decline somewhat.

Also, I'm a big believer in life being far too short to either hold these long, silly grudges (like UncleSkinny and Morrissey himself) or cling onto someone like a sychophant and defend his every single utterance. Just enjoy things for what they are and voice your opinion where you feel it matters to you, simple as that.

I don't 'know' that.
The above is your 'spin' on things he has said and done. Maybe you're wrong?
I have respect and tolerance for people of all ethnicities and all cultures. I would listen to music, or watch a film , or read a book made by anyone, man or woman, black or white, left or right, far left or far right, communist or fascist, or just plain old human being. Their political opinions wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

I agree with much of what you’re saying. But I don’t think your ‘weird uncle’ has shaped your life as much or in the same way as Morrissey has.

I wasn’t asking for you to justify anything. Just saying as long as we’re going to remember Morrissey’s ‘bad’, we should also remember the reasons why, because of him, why we are here, and I don’t just mean, here on solo.

btw, Morrissey is ‘scum’, he said so himself. And I don’t think we’d want him any other way.
