Bradley Steyn

I cannot admit to actually "knowing" Bradley Steyn. Yes, I am aware that he is South African and that he lives in Los Angeles, and that he has "walked off" three Morrissey tours - which really is his own business, not mine. My personal involvement with him has been zero, and he has certainly never been Head Of Security on any Morrissey tour.
I am aware of the false story he has placed on various news sites wherein he claims I asked him to "hurt" (kill?) David Tseng. Although Steyn's story lends itself to its own ridicule, I feel I must say to those who have not yet worked it out, that the story is a vexatious lie.
It is common knowledge that I dislike the SoLow site, and I am aware that all of the opinions posted on the site are controlled or written by David Tseng, and that David Tseng will give maximum and inexhaustive publicity to anything said in the negative about me. This is a general truth that most people accept about SoLow. It is nothing new, and I have long since learned to accept it.
The very idea that I would ask a complete stranger (Bradley Steyn) to physically attack David Tseng surely cannot register with any sane person as being likely. As mildly irritating as David Tseng may be, he is not someone who troubles me enough to even bother with.
The shabby truth of this drama is that Bradley Steyn has been trying to extract money from what he terms "the Morrissey tour", and he has failed. He is now desperate, and this story is his latest escapade to gain someone's attention. What he is telling the world is that, as a music venue security officer, anyone who works with him in the future should expect the same harassment and persecution as he is now - mysteriously - wielding my way. It is beyond belief, and it is shocking that someone who makes claims of professionalism would lower himself to this level.
Please note that Bradley Steyn's statement is now in the hands of the Los Angeles Police Department, and is subject to both criminal and civil action.

I tell you what Reality Bites.....you stay in the shallow end with all the non-swimmers. You are clearly over your head here....You and Viva are way over your head.

Viva and I don't swim in the same circles. He swims with sharks. I swim with dolphins. Pay attention!

Shut it down.....The world of Morrissey....and the world in general will be a better place.

Something else I don't get is why almost everyone here uses a fake names. I don't understand that...it shows lack of something. I believe everyone would be more courteous to one another if they used their real name....at least their last name like I have.

Hi keene, my given name is Anna. My handle on this website is Chickpea.

While I do agree with you to a certain extent about the use of handles (or as you like to call them, "fake names"), I think you're about 20 years (+/-) too late to start arguing against the use of pseudonyms on the internet. Part of the reason it's done is to protect privacy, but handles also create a sense of community and chosen identity in and of themselves. What matters, really, is that the pseudonym is consistent. That handle eventually becomes that person—whether or not it's their given name doesn't matter very much. In fact, one could argue that having 20 people with individually-chosen, unique handles is more identifiable and leads to more accountability than having 20 people named "Michael" (or "Michael90210," "Michael007") all posting in the same place. The name "keene" means no more to me than "Uncleskinny," even though one is a given name and the other is a handle—it's the posts associated with those names that give them their identity.

That's not the same thing as arguing against total anonymity, though. Anonymous posts can't be linked back to anything or read in any kind of meaningful, continue context, and there is absolutely zero community accountability once they're allowed, which is why I wish they weren't permitted. Registered handles work very well on the internet, though, and they have for a very long time.

What really bothers me is lack of civility.....and negative hateful trolls. keene is my real name....when you have a conversation with a real named person it is more human...to me Anna is much more real than Chickpea. I disagree that talking to a person named, Morrissey-sucks or any other fakery will lead to a feeling of community. But I could be wrong....people need to get it together somehow because what is going here is not working. I agree with you about anonymous postings.

This fellow, David T. says he is a fan of Morrissey...and Morrissey has stated numerous times he doesn't like what is going on here. Why does it continue if he is a fan?

You might have to get a life....a real life...... if this site is shut down. Scary...huh?......I told you my real name.

You are demanding of Morrissey something that isn't even logistically possible. He has a THRONG of followers. There is no way he can make them all happy, pass out envelopes, sing cumbaya and kiss them all goodnight. I walked into the Observatory tonight and thought "I slept in this parking lot." His fanbase is rabid, large and manic. Not exactly the type of crowd to throw out requests to. You are delusional in your hatred for Morrissey and his lack of satisfying your need to feel special. Latch on to a smaller artist if you want your stupid ego stroked. f***tard. I'm sick of hearing your shit.

f***ing too right! thank you for this, cg.

Even Google+ realized that forcing folks to use their real name was stupid.

Do you have anything else to say or is this "real name" bullshit it?

Google?....who is Google? They are not God.

Believe me, this is an obscure web site. Supposedly a fan based site for Morrissey. I say clean it up or shut it down....

I would love to have or read decent thoughtful discussions about Morrissey's work, but how in the world can that happen with all of these brain dead, hateful.... fakes on this site

Yeah, but not you. Oh no, not you. You're the interesting one here. :lbf:

are people really afraid to say there real name here or anywhere else online? seems like something an old person would worry about or someone who was afraid of getting fired or afraid of getting asked odd questions in there next job interview. the internets gonna get you if you type your real name, what? that is unless you wanna say mean hateful things to poeple behind a mask. personally i just dont care and am lazy but if people wanted to know i doubt id be afraid to say. why would i be, serious question.

If that's how you feel, then it's up to YOU to drop this endless, futile (and it is futile) quest of yours against the use of internet handles and start—and engage in—some thoughtful discussions. Otherwise, you're just contributing to the air of negativity you claim to want to be rid of.

You are allowing yourself to be trolled: by arguing endlessly and pointlessly, you're perpetuating the problem. That's how trolling works.

You saw a lot of the greats: Hendrix, Joplin, The Doors. Now you're drawn to Morrissey - I'd like to know more about what you see in his music that rises to that level of greatness, or how you place him in the musical pantheon. Leave the senseless squabbling to folks who can't seem to find anything better to do. :)

Anna,.....I've tried the thoughtful approach.....the trolls won.

Here's the thing I see.....everyone here has something invested in this site. It has become part of who they think they are. But there is a problem....the man who this site is supposedly dedicated to doesn't like it. So what now? Does the operator of this site deal with this little problem?

No...he doesn't. Why not? It's like everyone here thinks they are more important than the artist. How does that happen?

Does anybody here even ask themselves these questions. Does any one here even know what Morrissey is getting at on all of his albums since his so-called comeback with YATQ? Not too many that I see....This site should be about the music and the art and people should be more civil......

I apologize for trolling the trolls.....that is all.

I think you are a cop out, fake and hollow. YOU start the thoughtful discussion. YOU share your feelings of his work. But nooooo, YOU complain instead. Just what does that say about YOU.
