    First time with Morrissey

Nice stories :) My parents had the Viva Hate cd, which they sometimes played when we went with the car on holiday to France. I remember I was impressed by the music of Alsatian Cousin and Everyday Is Like Sunday, but I always thought the singer was not that great. I even felt sorry for the...

    "Istanbul" chart update - true-to-you.net

Perhaps he is genuinely thrilled to find out he is still popular among a perhaps for him unexpected group - young, vibrant, smart people (as opposed to his old fanbase and young, vibrant, smart individuals), and he felt the need to share this exciting fact with the world.

Songs that sound like they could've been Morrissey songs

When I heard Cornerstone by Arctic Monkeys for the first time, I thought it was Morrissey! The lyrics, the music and the way it is sung are very Morrisseyesque in my opinion. And I always thought 'I started a joke' by The Bee Gees could be a Morrissey song.

Is 'Crash' the inspiration for 'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out'?

I have just read the novel 'Crash' by J.G. Ballard, a novel about car-crash fetishism (which should be read as a metaphor for the technolisation of society, or in whichever other fashion you want to read it). It made me think about the song TIALTNGO, giving it a deeper meaning. Is anyone here...

Would you like to hear Morrissey do a cover on the tour?

I'm for Frank Sinatra, but how about 'Cycles'? It suits him perfectly in my opinion, The lyrics: So I'm down and so I'm out But so are many others So I feel like tryin' to hide My head 'neath these covers Life is like the seasons After winter comes the spring So I'll keep this smile awhile And...

How many of you dont like Roxy Music anymore?

The first two albums are brilliant, nothing could change my mind from that. But the thing with Ferry is, he was great the first two albums , maybe the three after that can be added too, but then he changed the musicstyle, the way he presented himself and, worst of all, his singing style. From...

    Strange/unexpected Moz references?

Last night the popular Dutch singer Jan Smit was introduced to a tv programme with 'this charming man', probably more of a reference to his last name and the song title than to the band, but it would really shock me if he turned out to be a fan.. Example of his music:

    The Saddest...

I very much like this thread, very inspirational choices. However, I want to suggest to add the saddest poems. I am very interested in poems, I read Dutch poetry all the time, but I really do not know a lot of English poetry, just the WH Audens and John Keatses etc. Maybe some of you want to add...

In need of tips on how to play "I've changed my plea to guilty" (Guitar)

Hi George, I presume you found the chords on ultimate-guitar.com? Anyway, it doesn't really matter. First of all, its played in 3/4'. I play it like this: In every 3/4 the first strum just the 2 lowest strings with the thumb, the next 2 the 3 (or 4) high strings strummed with the other fingers...

    Babelizing Lyrics

I think the last one is : There is a light that never goes out ? This is the funniest one I got. Original: She said: I know you, you cannot sing, I said: That's nothing, you should hear me play piano. Babelized: It said: I know to him, you that cannot sing, I that I did not say: That' S...

The "Those lyrics could have been written by Morrissey" thread

This must be the oldest one of the list so far, Nobody's lonesome for me - Hank Williams (1950) Everybody's lonesome for somebody else But nobody's lonesome for me Everybody's thinking about somebody else But nobody thinks about me When the time rolls around for me to lay down and die...
