I assume you are referring to other members on this site? I am not them, but perhaps we share a similar opinion on latter day Moz. I used to be a frequent poster on here, but due my ever growing disappointment in Morrissey's music (and the man himself) I haven't posted in a number of years...
When the boycott began, I hoped it would be quickly over and I could have the opportunity to see Moz in concert once again. Now that it is over, I wish it would have continued so I did not have to feel the guilt of not wanting to see my favourite artist in concert anymore. The decline has been...
Re: In this post-"World Peace is All of Our Business" climate, We All Owe "Malajusted" an Apology.
Maladjusted is far better than WPINOYB (despite worse cover art).
"Maladjusted" is the most menacing opener in Moz' canon.
"Alma Matters" is an instant classic single.
"Ambitious...
Viva Hate is home to 3 of Morrissey's great songs ever (his work with The Smiths included)- "Suedehead", "Everyday Is Like Sunday" and "Late Night, Maudlin Street". There are a few other excellent songs and maybe 2 or 3 somewhat duff, but still charming tracks. It's a great album- probably...
It's not so much that the old fans have lost their taste (though there's some lowered expectations for sure)- I think it's more a case that the new fans are tasteless.
On top of this, they're just lazy, poorly constructed and ironically patronizing.
"Work hard and sweetly pay your taxes, never asking what for- oh, you poor little fool!" Seriously Moz, go f*** yourself.
"Police will stun you with their stun guns or they'll disable you with tasers- that's...
This should be a no-contest romp for "Drag The River"- it's miles beyond the other tracks. "Art-hounds" is shite and "One Of Our Own" is just horrible. Somewhere along the way Morrissey's audience has morphed into a group of people with the absolute worst taste (which makes some sense since...
Re: The dust has settled, the honeymoon is over. So, which of MORRISSEY's last 4 albums is his best
Difficult to say which is the best, but WPINOYB is by far his worst album of the 21st century (and of his career).
Re: My Review Of The New Album
A track-by-track review (more-or-less)
I've first listened to the "Deluxe" material (Scandinavia, One Of Our Own, Drag The River, Forgive Someone, Julie In The Weeds and Art Hounds).
How could anyone (as many have) list "Art Hounds" as their favourite...
So, what are we left with? From 18 new tracks we have probably only 3 truly great tracks- "Staircase At The University", "Drag The River" and "Mountjoy"- another small handful of decent tracks, one or two of which border on quite good and then a glut of pretty poor offerings including some of...
Last but not least, the final quarter.
"Kick The Bride Down The Aisle", despite the hilarious "cow" line, is pretty infantile and another dreary tune.
"Mountjoy" is excellent and I don't think only by comparison. Hand it to Moz- even now he still somehow seems to pull one or two out of his...
If there is a song that needed to be a bit longer, it's "The Bullfighter Dies"- another thirty seconds to a minute, with the tune pumped up a bit could've made it worthwhile and allowed one to overlook the slightness and laziness of the lyric.
"Kiss Me A Lot" is flat out annoying.
And if...
3 more tracks... 2 singles we already knew to be underwhelming to piss poor and new song touted by many to be one of the best off the new album.
"Istanbul" is okay- it rings somewhat hollow, but whatever.
EITLPOA is brutal. This obsession with cheesy Latin rhythms has to stop.
"Staircase At...
