How many of you dont like Roxy Music anymore?

Only here. Who f***ing cares what Bryan Ferry does or Morrissey thinks.

Suede to release comprehensive “Best of” compilation

Anyone know if there'll be a vinyl issue? Such a shame they never printed Sci-Fi Lullabies on vinyl and I want to play those b-sides without switching records every 2-3 songs.

Introducing… How To Destroy Angels (Trent Reznor's new band)

If I was writing a parody of Trent Reznor, I'd title his new band How To Destroy Angels.

Brand new Blur song, released 17th April 2010

I love the arrangement, lyrics and music. Sounds like a great lost b-side from Modern Life is Rubbish or Parklife. If this is the sort of thing they can knock out at will, please knock out one last great Blur album. I love Think Tank but it would be fantastic to have Albarn and Coxon together...

The Cure - Disintegration - 21st Anniversary Deluxe Edition

Happy to be wrong. I was responding in part to the discussion on the previous page where people didn't think it was coming out on vinyl. Though I'm not sure I was 'bashing' anyone or anything.

The Cure - Disintegration - 21st Anniversary Deluxe Edition

Really wish they'd reissue this stuff on 120 gram vinyl as well. Could press and sell loads of it for 10-12 bucks a pop. How more legacy artists aren't catching onto the fact that there's money to made in their back catalogue through vinyl baffles the mind.

What the h... is wrong with music today?

I thought I better bump this so we don't lose our place to the other 'music sucks today' thread. --The world's changing. Music's changing. Even drugs are changing. You can't stay in here all day dreaming about heroin and Ziggy Pop. --It's lggy Pop. --Whatever. I mean, the guy's...

What the h... is wrong with music today?

I wasn't referring to the state of The Who. Rock and roll is both a mug's and young man's game. I said the kids not the geriatric wing of the rock n' roll hall of fame was alright, any allusions be damned.

What the h... is wrong with music today?

And The Stone Roses thought they were needed as saviors. Blur thought England needed them. Nirvana who Blur were rallying against thought they were breaking through the bullshit of the day. Prince thought he was a real musician saving music. It never ends. I'm sure The Libertines thought things...

What the h... is wrong with music today?

What I got out of it is that she thought music was dead or dying. Unless I've missed it, has the blatant irony of that been commented on here? My second point I stand behind: if she thought music was dying she obviously wasn't paying attention to funk and soul in the 70s. Not only was it vital...

What the h... is wrong with music today?

Sure. I'm sorry, you and Worm seem to parrot each others thoughts so I possibly addressed something to him that I was to you or vice versa. I'm just dipping in here and reading bits when I can. I apologize for that. :guitar:

What the h... is wrong with music today?

Heh? I wasn't responding to anything you said, simply giving my take on Patti Smith and Joy Division. I certainly have no idea where I jumped at you. People are so incredibly touchy when you speak against a pop star they deem sacred, as if you've just debased their family name on public access...

What the h... is wrong with music today?

Patti Smith deserves credit for her artistic integrity and the fire she lit in others but I find her music a dull, nearly painful affair. And her quoted comments are self-important, inflated and out of touch. What I hear in those statements is that white music in her opinion was dead. The 1970's...

What the h... is wrong with music today?

I've not had much time for anything as of late, let alone this thread, but I think what's most telling of Patti Smith's quote is that she also thought rock was dead. Someone should have told her she was living in an age of 'giants' or whatever term was used earlier to denote bands of the past...

The Cure - Disintegration - 21st Anniversary Deluxe Edition

I don't think the others did though I haven't paid close attention. And yes, I just meant a reissue of the first disc.

What the h... is wrong with music today?

A noble undertaking by Qvist but then comes the question, which bands? Art is always going to be subjective to a degree and where one hears a mash up of Spirtiualized and The Beach Boys in Animal Collective, others hear the natural progression of pop. (I am not looking to discuss the merits of...

What the h... is wrong with music today?

I fear your ego is in the way because I've not read much of what you or Worm had to say, I just jumped in a bit foolishly and perhaps my points have been, if there have been any at all, a bit all over the place. I'm humbled you thought I was being sarcastic however, because I never seem to get...

What the h... is wrong with music today?

I don't follow your logic re: smaller community means better art but such is the result of my feeble mind. I do know that when good art is made it doesn't dilute simply because bad art is also made. Look at all of the miserable twee pop (pun fully intended) that came about as a result of The...

What the h... is wrong with music today?

Good thoughts, Worm. The medium makes little difference to me; it's the art I want to get at. Music is as vibrant today as ever. The title of this thread has no doubt been asked by countless individuals since the Neolithic. I imagine there were a good many people in ancient Sumer who upon...
