So how come Morrissey hasn't got a Mancunian accent?

I've always found that there are indeed traces of Irish in his accent. The way he says 'any' - he pronounces it 'annie', just like Dubliners do.

News reports of Morrissey to write Eurovision song

I just can't imagine Moz getting involved in something as trivial as Eurovision. He has always been so vocal about how popular music and its merits are devalued and dismissed. For him to get involved in an event that celebrates the acceptance of diluted popular music just doesn't add up to me.

Apologies, but I wouldn't know where to start. I haven't a notion about uploading stuff. But you will get loads of stuff in the Cat Power forum on the bulletin board on www.matadorrecords.com

Very true! I saw her in Belfast 3 years ago and she was a mess. From what I've gathered she has got her shit together and has been playing with a great live band of late. I have a friend who saw her in Boston as few months back and said she was a lady reborn. I heard a bootleg of the show and it...

Chan is amazing. I adore her fragile southern whisper. All her albums are worth checking out.

    Morrissey in Dublin

The advertising campaign has gathered momentum again on the radio. 2fm are plugging the gig constantly now. Anyone know of any after shows? And I don't mean like that sweat box aftershow on Dame Street last April.

Request - Original versions of songs covered by Moz/Smiths

I think Moz sang a snippet of 'Size of a Cow' by The Wonder Stuff one night on his UK tour of 2002. Anyone have it?

Would you have wanted The Smiths to continue?

It would have been really interesting to see where they would've went next. I would like to imagine it being more towards the Last Night I Dreamt dramatics.

    Charlie's Bus 1984

Kid - "Where are we going?" Moz - "We're all going mad!" Indeed. Far from essential viewing and a bit of a giggle all these years later. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quFlsFkKarE&search=Morrissey

    The Public image

It's no problem for me, I have a credit card and I do use it, perhaps too much. But I've met younger people with no access to such things and it's a simple fact that some stores here in Northern Ireland do not stock the way they should. The last couple of cd singles of the Quarry album are a...

    The Public image

Downloading the rare stuff and the live stuff is great...and this page has really come to life lately because of it. I understand about the commercially available stuff. But it's worth remembering that just because something is commercially available doesn't mean it will be available in the one...

Thank Your Lucky Stars - The Troy Hands Rocks The Cradle - Little Charmers

Anyone know why Morrissey decided not to release the Kilburn gig in its complete form, therefore omitting Frankly Mr. Shankly, There Is A Light, How Soon Is Now etc? Perhaps the forthcoming Smiths rarities releases may see this error corrected. Yes maybe not, I know. :)

    Morrissey - "Dublin 1995"

Cheers. I really wish I went to that gig...such a sense of hit and run to it! I bought a ticket for the Belfast gig on that tour. Sadly, by the time that gig got round to happening, after initially being delayed for Bowie to appear at the MTV Europe Awards, Moz had left the tour.

    Woderful Woman is... well, wonderful

Yeah he does. I used to think it was "lets go a trip up north!" :o I think it's a great song. I prefer the Troy Tate version, less polished, and works all the better for it in my opinion.

    Talk Talk

Those records still sound great. Spirit of Eden is a classic, as is the It's My Life album. This thread has led me to drag out the albums again. Cheers! :)
