i must have the versions mixed up...it's not the one on to see the lights...as far as i know it's nowhere but on that cassette...it wasn't the helter shelter performance...it was pre-olympian actually...
ah vancouver...many an ill spent night have i had there...
you MUST seek out a band called THE ORGAN...they are vancouver based and they are phenomenal...
no unfortunatley weather underground was their swansong...too bad really but quite honestly i don't know where else they could have gone with their sound...
by the by cyrille have you heard of a band called M ?
they're parisian i believe...quite good too...
where are you in bc jim...?
i'm in drab old kelowna.
i remember seeing morrissey in '91 walking around with alain whyte while i was shopping for yogurt...i turn a corner and there he is...it was the day just before his first ever vancouver show...i asked him for a hug and though he gave me one...
does anyone have the version of "haunted by you" performed live by GENE from their helter shelter peformance?
i believe it was only ever released on either an NME or Melody Maker cassette...it's my favourite version and my first introduction to them all those years ago...i've since lost the...
oh it still has to be the cry of "stay handsome" for me...all those years ago...he's certainly said more amusing things more erudiate things but somehow back then such a simple statement in such dire venues seemed heroic.
oh and joyce...perhaps all those egg whites used to stiffen your hair during your years as a nobody with "victim" seeped into your brain leaving you mindless...in any case spare us your cultural malaise.
alexander scriabin.
his notion of synesthsia was fascinating.
he wanted to perform his poem of fire on everest and test whether it could induce the apocalypse.
o and his music is staggeringly intense and thrillingly beautiful.
ennio morricone's score for "lolita"
george harrison: "living in the material world"
clinic: "visitations"
a history of doo-wop (disc4)
jack: "the jazz age"
rachel's: "sea and the bells"
and many other individual songs are currentley gracing my ears.
wonderful geneva..."closer to the stars"...a b-side hooked me...so often the way....unfortunaley i have recentley heard some of andrew montgomery's new work...it's sad really...it's too close to the original to be new and too dull to bother...but with a falsetto like his where could he go...?
listen to "jet boy"...then "(there's gonna be a) showdown"...let your ears guide the rest...unless you are attatched to morrissey's frontal lobe and you don't like them i'm sure he won't care either way.
oh jim be gentle...they are not so bad...at least they are not muse...there is something quite delightful about them...simple...punchy...in a word fun...don't fear enjoyment...escapism is not entirely evil.
lovley!
i have all the b-sides and releases but i would simply adore you if you could expend the effort for someone you hardly know to post any and all video you might have of the delectable elcka...i have little to offer in return other than perhaps any non-consequential organs you might...
yes it's true...here in british columbia canada we have a provincial park called morrissey...it's along a fairly raging yet gentle river and is surrounded by pine trees...somehow quite applicable...just thought it might be amusing...

see for yourself...
i've posted the black session they did in 1995.
tracks are as follows:
1) They Don't Know You
2) Boho Bird
3) Venus In Furs
4) Leather Lips
5) Fill Me
6) Pervert's Servant
7) Aston Martin
the date of the performance is 06/10/1995
it's all in one piece as a file but here it is...
primarily "another way" and their cover of "venus in furs" but any good quality bootlegs or soundboard stuff would be gleefully gobbled up by yours truly...
