I met Lloyd Cole after The Commotions played The Dominion Theatre, London, in 1984. Morrissey was in the audience that night. At the stage door Lloyd joked that he was going to form a new band with Morrissey called The Affected Poofs. A good band name and a true story.
Feel free to not believe it but I actually did see The Smiths and Mozz that many times as all my friends and family would confirm. And I didn't make an announcement to the world, mate, I made a comment about the new music and current set list, the same as you did.
I saw The Smiths lives 50 times and have seen Morrissey over 100 times and this is actually the first tour I will miss, not by accident or can't afford or make it, but because I dislike most of the new and last album which makes up most of the set list. Who really wants to hear a load of ropey...
