Will Morrissey ever reach the Top 20 again?

Plenty of people according to this thread. I fucking hate people like you who contribute nothing to a thread - if you don't have a decent opinion to share, just fuck off and don't contribute.

    Does Morrissey still like Boxing?

I think Mozzer seems to have an affity for losers; i think he sees himself as an outsider and relates to the beautiful art of losing. If Carr had become a great boxer, he'd have stopped liking him.

Will Morrissey ever reach the Top 20 again?

Maybe that's why they changed the download rules in 2006 - cos they knew he'd be No 1 otherwise with YHKM!

    Does Morrissey still like Boxing?

What with the re-issue of Southpaw, and the fact Mozzer apparently hates the old sleeve, i was wondering...does Mozalini still like Boxing? Or was it just a mid-90's fad gone awry? And whatever did happened to Corenilus Carr or whatever he was called?

I'm keeping this thread alive - like The Bluetones.

Will Morrissey ever reach the Top 20 again?

It was a top 10 in fact - the only Morrissey had in the 1990's - indeed, the only one he had for a 15 year period!

Will Morrissey ever reach the Top 20 again?

Even then, things were very different - in 1997, Mozzer was still only a decade out the Smiths, and i'm sure he felt he had a second wind in him. That wind blew in 2004, and was still a strong gust in 2006. But now, 3 years later, it has all but died down and it's over 20 years since The...

Will Morrissey ever reach the Top 20 again?

I can't see U2 or Oasis calling it a day yet - crucially, they still sell bucketloads of albums.

Will Morrissey ever reach the Top 20 again?

Yet again we agree. There is one scenario that i can forsee getting him right back in the charts - perchance even a number one... It's called The Smiths getting back together.Morrissey & Marr back in unison would be a BIG headline grabber. And we all know Morrissey loves the limelight...

Will Morrissey ever reach the Top 20 again?

With the charts becoming almost completely download orientated, and major acts like U2 and Oasis struggling to make the top 10, i ask - will Mozzer ever reach the top 20 again? His last 2 singles have failed to make the 20, and i can't ever see him having another 2004-style renaissance, so is...

    Johnny Marr's Finest Moment?

Lol yeah - Barney's rap is pretty terrible. Maybe he was inspired by working with John Barnes the previous year! Tis a great album though. A finer debut than The Smiths, methinks.

    The Bluetones....

Shocking that the Tones haven't scored a top 10 for over a decade - we need to get a serious download campaign going. Anyone up for joing me - make The Tones number 1 in the charts? That'd fuck 'em off at Radio 1.

Looks like Years will only be in the top 75 for 4 weeks.

Don't know what street you live on - the album aslways sounded brilliant to me, from the tracks i'd heard - going right back to Something Is Squeezing My Skull a year ago. Plus 3 killer singles before the album was released is surely enough?

    Johnny Marr's Finest Moment?

I just think it stands up better with the passing of time. It doesn't really sound aged, unlike a lot of The Smiths stuff. Even The Queen Is Dead sounds dated in a lot of places.

    Johnny Marr's Finest Moment?

Electronics debut album - simple as. Better than anything he did with the Smiths.

Anyone else seen the Tones recently? Or any news on a new album?

I definately don't think that sales reflect what is a good album or not, but there is no question Mozzer has been backsliding in that dept since his 2004 comeback. I knew it couldn't last.

To be fair, it's not as if Mozzer has a long list of albums that have spent several weeks in the top 40:- You Are The Quarry (13 weeks, peaked at 2) Viva Hate (5 weeks, peaked at 1) Vauxhall And I (5 weeks, peaked at 1) - Suedehead - The Best Of (5 weeks, peaked at 25) Your Arsenal (4...
