The Guardian:Why are we talking about Morrissey and Buffy? Because cultural nostalgia is now king by Zoe Williams

You're all being mean to her because she's critical of your idol you deluded far right racists! Oh, hang on I've read it now. As you were.

Morrissey Central "Viva Morrissey" (April 5, 2020)

I think it was Frankie Boyle that said he wouldn't be surprised if Boris pretended to be dead until all this blows over.

Morrissey Central "Viva Morrissey" (April 5, 2020)

Egads it's that guy! I remember that time he tried to ruin my Christmas. Still, I'm surprised Morrissey hasn't said as much with his own mouth.

Morrissey subject of Convince Me To Like This Band podcast ("Super Fan" Jose Maldonado vs. "Hater" Andrew Novick (ex-Warlock Pinchers)

Has making salacious accusations and getting offended by being asked to supply evidence always been a thing or is it a result of social media? 'The prosecution will now begin its summing up' 'Thank you Your Honour. Now, members of the jury, go and Google it. The prosecution rests'

We now break from this debate about the EU to ask a question that's as much to do with Morrissey as that debate... It's 1.20am. Why has my brain still not accepted that the clocks went forward so it's way past my bedtime?

The EU will be glad to see the back of us. All the UK has ever done is moan about it. We're the needy toddler in a continent that's run out of Coco Pops.

Sure, he's had some fair selling albums. But he's only ever had one certificate in the US. Maladjusted and Your Arsenal have none at all. And remember, Morrissey's more fanatical followers think Paint A Vulgar Picture is a user's guide - if it's on four formats they'll have them. You could then...

He's hardly ever sold that well. Morrissey fans have always overestimated the reach of their idol.

It's been fun being interested in charts and stuff (it's been a while). I'd forgotten what a sales dog egg Years of Refusal was.

Exactly. Coldplay's last album went gold in the UK (100,000). At least 10 times what Morrissey's album is likely to shift. Their album before that went quadruple platinum (1,200,000). And I'll bet their label spent on crisps what Morrissey's label spent in total. I don't recall Chris Martin...

I'm quite ashamed that I know this but... it's called Run For Your Wife. It didn't come out recently though, nor was it his last film. He hasn't done films since he got comfortable behind the bar of the Queen Vic.

Did it? I always got the impression that LIHS (and World Peace...) did quite well in the first week then dropped into oblivion.

He's had one platinum album in his entire career, Plenty of artists have sold much bigger numbers and fallen as far. His political views are one thing. They're not nothing, they're not everything. Except maybe in the US. Not making the Top 200 is embarrassing.
