Albumism review by Libby Cudmore: IANADOAC 0/5

Funny... when I first read your post, I read it too quickly and thought you were writing what Ms. Cudmore was like in the past ("Oooh we love Morrissey because...") and that you were going to make the point that Cudmore used to feel that way back in the 80s/90s but now she hates that about...

    IANADOAC - singles?

Is this album the first time Morrissey has released a new album without it being preceded by a physical single release? (By the way, wasn't there a promised single backed by Rainbow Valley? What happened to that?)

    When should Morrissey retire?

Lot's to digest here. Thank you! A very interesting situation. I was expecting a similar Mark-Fisher-esque backlash when Obama criticized "cancel culture" (in October 2019), but thankfully his very sensible words were generally well received.

    When should Morrissey retire?

Don't want to distract from the point of this thread, but can you tell me more about this left-wing racism in the UK? A link to an article maybe

Dog on a Chain review - Classic Pop (3.5 stars out of 5)

Clueless in the U.S.: 1. What does "walkies!" mean? (Here in the US, the first thing that comes to mind is "walkie talkie.") 2. What is the significance of Alf Garnett? (The wiki page on him didn't help me.)

Billy Bragg: There's no way back for Morrissey

You should give it a read. You're right that there is no mention of positive impacts, which is a weakness. I want to give the author the benefit of the doubt that the benefits of pluralism and freedom of religion are assumed.

Billy Bragg: There's no way back for Morrissey

An interesting op-ed about how France is dealing with Islam. The article argues the point that having a frank and open discussion about the negative impacts that parts of Islam may have on democratic states can now be had by moderate and progressive politicians/people and not just alt-right wing...

    IANADOAC inspiration?

Yes I am aware of that. I should have said something like "I wonder if when Morrissey covered this, he was inspired by the line."

    IANADOAC inspiration?

Apologies if this has been written about already, but today I noticed that the lyrics of "Only a Pawn in Their Game" contain the line "Like a dog on a chain." This might be the source of Morrissey's inspiration for the new albums title. The forth verse: From the poverty shacks, he looks from...

    March? I can't f**kin' wait till March

I'm pretty pessimistic to be honest. I really did not enjoy LIHS (although I liked about 60% of WPINOYB). That being said, along side my pessimism is the hope of one last great set of songs. I really hope he and the fellas have it in them and can deliver it. "My only mistake is I'm hoping"

That may be true, but I'd still like an answer. :)

SER Twitter/IG: pictured with new album white label (December 23, 2019)

Does anyone know what the existence of a white label means? Like does that tell us that he's still with BMG because Moz would only record an entire album with a labels $, not his own? Or that he may or may not be with BMG because he has (in the past) self-funded the recording of an album?

The Smiths to reunite for 2020 tour promoted by Live Nation?

Hey there brother, I hate to call you out publicly but see this verse: Proverbs 27:17 And also see these: Romans 12:16 Ephesians 4:15; 32 Proverbs 10:12 Some are specifically about followers of Jesus getting along, but I think they have some value in guiding how we interact with all people...

Winnipeg, MB - Centennial Concert Hall (Oct. 21, 2019) post-show

Thanks. And what's with the scraled words on it? "Removed from society"? Is he referencing the conflict between Quentin Tarantino and China over editing "Once upon a time in Hollywood"?
