Speculation - new album recording in January 2024?

And it's not his only unreleased album. There is the companion piece to 4:13 Dream, which I understand has been scrapped. Plus he has been talking that there is another album in addition to Lost World waiting in the wings.

Speculation - new album recording in January 2024?

I agree. I think an artist's job is to make art. The world is full of Morrissey's contemporaries who have pretty much given up on releasing new music: The Cure, Scritti Politti, Sisters of Mercy, Prefab Sprout, Human League... Tears For Fears, Psychedelic Furs and Soft Cell did release albums...

World Peace Is None of Your Business: album, single questions

Exactly. I'm Finnish, and as you know, Soviet Union tried to invade Finland in the Second World War the same way it is now attacking Ukraine. Both of my grandfathers spent years of their youth fighting that war, one of them lost an eye in firefight. So I have found I Bury the Living personally...

World Peace Is None of Your Business: album, single questions

As is usually the case with Morrissey's interactions with record companies or the outside world in general, very little in all this makes any sense at all. And yet the truly tragic thing is: what did Morrissey gain by this very public feud? Absolutely nothing. Harvest may have botched the...

World Peace Is None of Your Business: album, single questions

My take is that practically Morrissey himself pulled the album back by severing ties with Harvest. He claimed he never signed a contract with Harvest and he retains full ownership of the album. And that Harvest have no right to sell it any more. The legal situation is most likely more...

Kig Live: Jakarta now cancelled (November 10, 2023)

Morrissey's songs rely very little on keyboards, so if Camille's foot really was the problem, any professional musician could learn her parts in two days. Plus the setlist could be built so, that keyboards feature on fewer songs than normal. It's exatly not like Chris Lowe being unable to play...

Morrissey Central "HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, DARLING" (November 7, 2023)

Well, it's not a five star album by any sane standaerd. But in my opinion it's a four star triumpf, a true comeback solidating everything that's great about him but slightly marred bys some album filler. If that not good enough for Morrissey, well then, boo-hoo.

Morrissey Central "HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, DARLING" (November 7, 2023)

Unless you expect a flurry of five star reviews to be your birthright, "mostly three and four star reviews" is pretty decent going. Even NME gave it 8/10.

Here's an overview of YAtQ reviews, which is pretty good: https://www.metacritic.com/music/you-are-the-quarry/morrissey/critic-reviews

    Fox5NY: Morrissey, Exclusive Performance & Interview (October 20, 2023)

Well, this is the guy who chose to play People Are the Same Everywhere in the Nobel gala... The interview was nice though. He should really do this kind of thing more often.

"Israel" should be released as a solidarity single now

This is just about the worst idea ever. Which means that Morrissey is probably right now crafting a tasteless e-mail pleading the case to BMG.

Scott Rodger (Maverick) leaks Morrissey information and email re: Bonfire / Miley via X (October 17, 2023)

On the contrary, Capitol have now lobbed the ball on Morrissey's side of the court. It has been two days since Rodger put out his tweets and "Mozi" has not shown any evidence to the contrary, even though he had a concert last night. If Capitol hasn't previously offered him the chance of...

    Washington, DC - The Anthem (Oct. 18, 2023) post-show

Well, yes, but if you title your tour "40 years of Morrissey", it is a bit misleading if you just play pretty much the same set as in your previous tours. Plus it's a missed opportunity, because you can't play that card again in a long time. Madonna definitely has more chart hits, but she also...

    Washington, DC - The Anthem (Oct. 18, 2023) post-show

And just how stupid it is to tour this under the moniker "40 years of Morrissey". It makes the ticket buyer expect for something special, but it's just the same old same old. What will the tour title be in 2024? "41 years of Morrissey"?

Scott Rodger (Maverick) leaks Morrissey information and email re: Bonfire / Miley via X (October 17, 2023)

Another comparison is Madonna, who also currently touring her 40 years of hits under the moniker Celebration Tour. She is also known for playing her recent material over the greatest hits set she could easily put together, but this time she is really doing the songs the public wants to hear. The...

Newsflash: Scott Rodger isn't your local priest, because he is a record company executive! If he was my local brain surgeon, I wouldn't go under his knife either.

Do you mean those Smiths-related messages from yesterday?

Has anybody already suggested Fiona Dodwell as a possible replacement for Miley Cyrus? FiDo could also ride a bulldozer ball naked during concerts.

Well, you must really be an optimist. After all, the situation has been like this almost exactly a year, so any hope of resolving it must have evaporated as long ago as any excitement for the album in question. Plus add all the bad blood and embarassing publicity, so I'm 100 % certain Capitol...
