Morrissey Central “Boom !" & "Hotel in Jakarta" (December 27, 2022)

It's a lot better than what (some) other people are doing right now - or were doing then. Plus, of course the ardent mozzerians are here on Christmas day; he is our lord and saviour, after all.

Rumor Scott Rodger (Maverick/Quest): Bonfire of Teenagers scheduled for Feb. 23, delayed by featured artist

Ahh, okay. Thank you for helping clear that up. It makes more sense that way. It's difficult to watch someone you adore perpetually hitting the self destruct button, but that's also partly what we love about him. Flaws and all. It's amusing to me that he thought Christmas would be the most...

Rumor Scott Rodger (Maverick/Quest): Bonfire of Teenagers scheduled for Feb. 23, delayed by featured artist

Why work with an artist you are too scared to be credited by? That's my question. Show your allegiance and be proud of who you respect or just don't bother doing it at all.

Morrissey Central "Roll On 2023" (December 23, 2022)

Agreed. Watt is dire. Not even a last resort.

Rebels Without Applause released as a single track - initially on some region's YT, now to buy & stream (November 24, 2022)

Even if I hadn't heard the live version of it, this is simply not good enough. Anyone with a set of decent ears can hear immediately why that is. A producer is supposed to enhance not diminish an artist's talents.

Free speech. If you don't like it don't look at it. Noone is criticising M himself. It's the production that's the issue and the reason we are so vocal is because we have a great track, his voice arguably better than it has ever been but a spoiled recording because someone went a bit loopy...

That makes it even weirder. The version I'm listening to on Tidal is undoubtedly atrociously produced. Maybe people are listening to slightly different versions. I don't know.

The fact that central is posting right now and posting anything but the information about the release is extremely strange. It makes you think they don't know about it but surely they must.

Me too, but I find it difficult to believe he agreed to this being released in its current state. It's atrocious - the Tidal UK version that is. Yep, I agree with you. It is sad. As of now, there is absolutely no competition; the live version blows this one out of the water in every way...

Erm no, some of us are just realists and non sycophantic. You can be a fan and still criticise; the two are not mutually exclusive. The Spotify version is dire regardless of what you say.

Calm down or you'll give yourself an aneurysm. That's merely your opinion. Music is subjective, but terrible production is universal.

Well, now you do. Perhaps we just don't like seeing a great voice being smothered by shitty effects, and this is the place we get to talk about it whether you like it or not.

True. I just can't help but think if all the tracks are produced by the same person then they probably have a "style". I will try and be patient! It's a virtue you must learn to stay sane here. 😆

Not going to lie, this has me worried for the rest of the album now. He has it all - decent tracks and vocals that are arguably the best of his entire career, and yet here we are with hugely sup-par production which takes away from his natural talent.

I haven't actually listened to it any other way - only headphones. Yeh, it's his voice and the guitars that seem to be the problem. The more I think about it just randomly being released the more I am wondering wth is going on. Normally there is at least the label or artist mentioning it before...

I couldn't agree with you more. Very sad. It's the one time I've wished I wasn't an audiophile/headphone enthusiast because I can hear every damn thing.

If the whole album is going to sound like this then I would prefer to just have the live versions; at least they showcase his vocals. This is a step in the wrong direction. I find it very difficult to believe that he gave the go ahead for this to be released in the state it's currently in.

So glad something has been released even though it's not at all what was expected. It's all a bit of a shambles. Crazy how much is just being randomly landed on us when usually these things are meticulously planned out for good reason. And it does him NO JUSTICE. I don't know what the hell...
