The song is pretty good. The doubled vocals at times reminds me very much of a few Malajusted tracks. The music is just sort of ho-hum, and the sparse part after the second chorus just sounds like filler to me and should've definitely been rewritten. Truthfully, Morrissey's voice at 63 is...
I do not care about the politics stuff. Not one iota.
And I would love two or three Southpaw Grammar-esque albums with some longer tracks, instrumental parts, something edgy again for him.
For his swansong, he doesn't need more albums that sound like collections of single-sounding songs...
Morrissey does really like that orange color. It reminds me of Penguin Books in general, and now List of the Lost too. I like how Morrissey keeps things looking classic. I even like the < STEREO > icon on his recent album covers/media (I mean...OF COURSE IT'S IN STEREO!) - but it's nostalgic...
That was part of Morrissey's 'tough guy' persona back in the 90s, as I'm sure you remember. The whole pugilist influence in his life at the time brought us bandages on the face, and arm/hand/face 'scratches'. I don't think it's meant to reflect 'self-harm' at all, rather that he was scrapping...

You sound as if you understand percussion. Paresi, throughout his entire recording career, has done many interesting things. He was good on both Morrissey albums he featured on - especially on tracks like Driving Your Girlfriend Home.
Just for fun, my opinion is that the best...
Time will tell where he falls in the order of Morrissey's best drummers, but he is talented and seems down to Earth. I'm certainly happy he's Morrissey's drummer, if we can't have the brilliant Matt Walker anymore.
I remember the CD sleeve from World of Morrissey (original mid 90s version) with Carr on the cover. It had a beautiful almost metallic sheen to it, in this silvery yet golden green color. To the eyes, Carr's face completely rose off the cover, and it felt different to the touch as well...
