    Question: Ask (Remix)

Has it always been described as this on Apple Music? I know JM was unhappy with Steve Likkywhite’s mix so is this him sticking his twopenneth in?

Morrissey Central "‘BONFIRE OF TEENAGERS’ IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS" (June 14, 2023)

I love Morrissey but it seems he gets more publicity these days from the music he doesn't release than the music he does. I think BOT is a poor song. If the record companies wanted to scupper his career they could just let it and the rest of the album dribble out. We all care passionately but...

Morrissey Central "SONGS ON SUNDAY" (June 10, 2023)

It’s one of my favourite Morrissey songs.

The Spectator: "What the Smiths' critics don't get" by Gareth Roberts (June 6, 2023)

I don’t think he’s necessarily saying the jingle jangle indie sound and haughty vocals of The Lotus Eaters pre-dates The Smiths but that sound was already in the air. It was evolving out of early goth and late New Wave. First Picture of You was broadcast as a Peel Session in October 1982 before...

The Spectator: "What the Smiths' critics don't get" by Gareth Roberts (June 6, 2023)

This is spot on. Morrissey has always made people feel a little uncomfortable. He is spiky and difficult. It’s why we love him.

    Question re: Margi Clarke

She was a very well-known actress and tv personality who just seemed to disappear. She was in a few dramas and presented her own tv series. She was in Coronation Street for a while. She seemingly had plastic surgery in the early 2000s and her face changed beyond recognition. It wonderful rapport...

Morrissey Central "LIFE IS A PIGSTY" (May 24, 2023)

I remember Morrissey joking once about writing Tina Turner’s name on his Master Tapes in the hope of that gaining him more radio airplay. He obviously appreciated her talent and her earlier songs.

    Your favorite Morrissey vocals

I adore how he vocalises the word "mausoleum" in Kiss Me A Lot. There are thousands of other examples. "Skin Storm" is a lovely vocal performance and "My Hurling Days Are Done" is amazing. Live At Earls Court contains his best recorded performance pretty much.

RIP Andy Rourke (May 19, 2023)

    Oh no.

Morrissey Central "40 YEARS AGO" (May 17, 2023)

He has to dig at Moz cos he knows he was only 22% of the Smiths appeal. I mean it’s a great riff but who’d want to listen to that on repeat for 3 and half minutes?

I want to find the actual interview where Billy Bragg says he stayed at Morrissey’s house…it was unkind what he said

Yes but I’m sure I read him say a slightly different version in an interview where he seemed to imply Morrissey was sharing a bed with Jimmy S. Maybe I misremembered

I want to find the actual interview where Billy Bragg says he stayed at Morrissey’s house…it was unkind what he said

I remember Billy Bragg was vaguely homophobic implying he bumped into Jimmy Somerville in the dead of night 💤

What do you think of the new song, 'Without Music The World Dies'?

I think it’s great but he could have tried a bit harder with one or two lines. Love the melody and the sentiment. He should have written you don’t need to trust your government no lying prime minister or corrupt president. Nobody sings about such things as home-schooling and billionaires...

The Smiths A-Z: "Well I Wonder"

    The Smiths A-Z: "Unloveable"

I always imagined the lyrics were taken from letters that fans had sent Morrissey though the Message Understood influence is there for all to hear too.

The Smiths A-Z: "This Night Has Opened My Eyes"

This song may be my least favourite Smiths track with a vocal. Johnny’s instrumental tracks are at the bottom of the bin for me but I’ve never warmed to this song either Taste is a funny thing and I know this track is loved but there you go. Give me Work Is A Four Letter Word any day any day any...

    The Smiths A-Z: "Oscillate Wildly"

Hate the instrumentals. Who in their right mind wants The Smiths without Morrissey even for 3:28 minutes?

    Doncaster - The Dome (Sep. 30, 2022) post-show

Morrissey truly was fantastic. So focussed and present. I enjoyed I Am Veronica and Sure Enough The Telephone Rings but I’m not keen on Bonfire of Teenagers. It really dragged the show down. The Loop was wonderful and Irish Blood, English Heart could be his best song. The crowd went crazy for...
