Finally, something worth while reading. After all those crappy postings on other crappy artist's mention of the man these few words from Gary are indeed a great gift. But why couldn't he or anyone else in the Moz camp do this before. Why did it take so damn long. I'd think that it would only benefit them to keep us excited about things by providing updates and bits of info every now and then. I'm sure it took Gary no more than five minutes to give us that bit. Thanks anyway Gary.

The key line there was "if the boss catches me on here.." which of course means that morrissey surfs the web and reads this site (in addition to him bidding on used skinhead boy's underwear on ebay, of course.)

The artist that will be duetting with mr Morrissey on his forthcoming album is a very exciting new artist called "lonely asian male". Maybe you haven't heard of him, but he is very big on the asian crooner scene. Since I'm currently representing him anyone interested in recieving more information about "lonely asian male" can visit this adress: http://www.geocities.com/lonely451_2000/me.html
I'll keep you updated on future tourdates.

In regards to In the Middle of the Street's posting, you ask why they haven't done this before? There are reasons...only a few know...but it is obvious that he DID finally post, so why ask why it took so long? And, believe me Morrissey has better things to do than waste his time with the pitiful goings on in the message boards...maybe you will all change your habits now that that the great and all mighty may be watching...I am just happy Gary took time out for this, and it will be the talk of the board for days. In just an hour there have been almost 100 hits on his message...amazing! This is what you get Gary...hope it is not regretted!

Golden Lights, you are a F---ing idiot.
Madonna? Beck? Phillipino based album?
Sometimes I wonder if I really want Morrissey to
release a new album after the last two peices of sh-t that he put out (Southpaw and Maladjusted).
I am afraid it just isn't like the old days anymore. Moz has sold out !! I don't want The Smiths, I just want the old Morrissey. The pre-1993 Morrissey. Ever since then the Morrissey camp has turned into a crap-shute!

KILL UNCLE FAN, without you even saying anything at all, just by the @#!!!ED UP name you chose, I know already that it is you who is the @#!!!ing idiot. First of all the Madonna, philipino, and or mexican themed things I mentioned were supposed to be gross exagerrations of how much I want something to be released. Obviously, you are such a @#!!!ING moron that you could not keep up. Secondly, only the stupidest person in the world would say out loud, or even to themselves, that after '93 Morrissey went down hill. Noneone in their brains on straight, or with brains period, could say that Kill Uncle is a better album than "Vauxhall". You monkey keep your stupid ideas, or lack of them for that matter, to yourself. Oh, and by the way don't ever come back here, at least not until you get yourself a proper education.
In the Middle of a Street - Fri, May 05, 2000 at 15:43:37 (PDT) | #21
Gary, Morrissey and his people told Madonna's Maverick to @#!!! off, not because it was the right thing to do, but because Morrissey is sexist, (not to mention hypersensitive). And Gary you're probably sexist, too. Madonna haters are mostly sexist, insecure, repressed people who can't dance.
P.S. why do m-solo visitors fight so much. A casual observer might think they are all high-strung loners who gain their sense of self-worth from attacking others.

Golden Lights. You just blew it by saying that Vauxhall is a better album than Kill Uncle. That is ridiculous. How could you even think such a hideous thing? My GOD!!!!!! Vauxhall is so many levels lower than Kill Uncle. At Least Morrissey showed more wit and intelligence in his celibate days. The brilliance of songs such as King Leer is long gone. I remember whan Vauxhall came out it was so disappointing to me. But of course the next 2 albums came out and made Vauxhall seem great. I don't understand why so many people think that Vauxhall is so great. It must be a stupid rebel thing. What is so great about songs like Spring Heeled Jim when the point of the song is much better exercised in Such A Little Thing...
And what is so great about Now My Heart Is Full? My God that song sucks and is boring as sh-t live!!!! Golden Lights, you are a f--cking MORON for insulting the Kill Uncle album. ANd I might have seen what you wrote as sarcasim but you see I am aware that Morrissey has many stupid Fu--ing fans who would say such a thing. Mute001 you must
have brain damage to call Soupaw Grammer and Maladjusted "Masterpeices".Songs such as Boy Racer, Best Friend On The Payroll, Papa Jack, Ammunition, and Roy's Keen were obviously pulled out of morrissey's arse!!!

this is all i got to say for everybody
Morrissey should go Independent
and we (including myself) should shut the hell up
If it wasnt Gary Day, he wouldnt be putting stuff like that or saying he was "A BIT SICK OF ALL THIS MISINFORMATION"
Yet lets all be glad that there is life in morrissey and the bands heads
that there is an album coming
and if he tours he tours
and if he doesnt, oh well
if other popular bands likes and dislikes morrissey let them like and dislike him all they want!
but we Morrissey fans should put our respects towards Morrissey himself and make him think(but dont fake it)that we support him 100%, which we really do, and not make f*cken fools of ourselves in a PUBLIC site or anywhere else
And i do agree with what Gary Day is saying.
so there is my 2 cents (maybe 3)on my behalf

Sweet Christ, what a pathetically angry, self-righteous bunch (not all of you). Since when did it become a crime to have an opinion? Everyone is getting so riled up about this album, and that album...."can't we all just get along"? Having been a fan for a good many years, I personally loved Vauxhall, I enjoyed Maladjusted too...Southpaw had it's moments but overall didn't change my life. These are just MY thoughts, not fighting words or tools of antagonism....you know, it's not necessary that we all agree; just that we're mutually respectful of one another. We are all here because we're fans....right?

Re record label
The choice of label is all important because of the lineage issue. Rough Trade, HMV, Parlophone, RCA, Island. It is more likely that Maverick was refused on grounds of coolness (or rather lack of)and not sexism. There are some cool (kitsch)British labels ripe for revival such as Bell, RAK, Harvest, and dare I say it K-Tel.

We should maintain a certain level of caution in regards to these messages supposedly left by GD. You must remember that the WWW is a completely anonymous medium. That post could have been made by a twelve year old boy in Iceland for all we know. I know it is a drag when there isn't much news from Moz-land, but we should have some faith in David. He has always been on top of it as far as getting vital Moz news to the masses at lightening speed. Take the comments with a grain of salt. Personally, I will wait for the webmaster to confirm!

mozz should consider mr. reznor's label. nothing would be an ideal home for mozz, regardless of the fact that nin and mozz are as far apart on the sonic map as one can get. consider this though--the subject matter in trent and mozz's works are frighteningly similar. and bowie seems to be keen on both boys, so there must be something there.
just my 2 cents worth ...
murdock <[email protected]>
- Sun, May 07, 2000 at 17:44:06 (PDT) | #49
Nothing would be a good label for Morrissey, despite the obvious distance between his music and someone like Marilyn Manson's. However, Reznor's always been good to have more quality than quantity, and at least His Majesty could get some promotion. Even The The got promotion here in the US, and that never happened with any of Matt's previous releases. and it doesn't hurt that Trent talks highly of Morrissey's songwriting...but then again, just throwing random ideas about here!

Thanks for tossing us a few interesting crumbs, Gary Day!
Now lets see. Regarding this duet. Could it be...Joni Mitchell??
It would be interesting if John Cale produced. And logical, as Morrissey seems to love Nico so much. Lillywhite is great, but you gotta keep changing, ya know?
And I think it's better that Morrissey isn't posting around here. I went to a Johnny Marr site
LoafingOaf <[email protected]>
and read all the questions fans sent to him which he was kind enough to answer, and I realized I just don't like the way many people act around their favorite celebrities. I've never needed a celebrity presence here to participate, because I'm not looking to have a relationship with Morrissey beyond loving his art. As bad as the message boards are right now (I'm temporarily boycotting them) they will hit new levels of annoying if people start thinking they can be Morrissey's "special friend" by posting there.
Throw us some crumbs, yes, but it's good to keep a distance and let this just be a fan site. IMHO.
%00 - Sun, May 07, 2000 at 22:53:55 (PDT) | #51
You know that may have been Gary, and it is nice to have some information for once, but this change nothing! I don't hear a new album, and that's all that matters. Morrissey needs a label, and he needs one now! This is getting old already. If Morrissey really wants to please his fans, then he would record the album himself in his home studio and release something. I have a hard time believing that Morrissey can't find a label. B-U-L-L-S-H-I-T! Morrissey will sell the records, if he ever records one! I thinK that Morrissey is just alitle sensitive, and has found himself acting like a baby! BOO HOO, record companies don't like me!
I say the duet should be with Johnny Marr!
The Last of the Original Gangstas!
Maybe it will be on Johnny's new album! Ohhh wait, I forgot that Marr is another thing that sensitive Morrissey ignores. Does anyone see a pattern!

Yes, it sort of makes sense. There are lots of information being posted here every day, perhaps even some gossiping, I mean, generally that's enough for atracting the attention of the subject of our thoughts. And Morrissey is far from underestimating the importance of internet, by the way. However, hmmm how could I put that... I've always wondered about the main characteristic of this site, that is to offer information. I mean, it's nice offering huge amounts of info, but then, it works just like a newspaper. I wonder if we could have some pages dedicated, for instance, to the fans' views about Morrissey's lyrics, if Morrissey's artistic production could be assimilated and recreated with the fan's experiences.

To Kill Uncle: Morrissey SOLD OUT? Has he sold a record since Viva Hate? By the way, Maladjusted is a really great album and Southpaw Grammar is OK. While Kill Uncle sounded like the Madness reunion. Kinda.
Wouldnīt Stuart Murdoch or Steve Malkmus be fitting duet partners to Morrissey? Theyīre the only ones even close to matching Mozīs lyrical abilities.

If this really is Gary's letter it is pretty cool he even takes the time out to check out this site. I like this site, and it makes it all that more exciting to think that they might be listening! If this is Gary's letter and he is currently in England, wouldn't it be around 12 am there or something to that effect? I don't remember the time differance. I hope they put out an album this year! I love those guys!

This has nothing to do with this topic of the day but i must say this,i used to love reading these boards but everytime i read i leave here wanting to go on a 12 state shooting spree, thats the emotion of these responses. i am sure that the one we love sits back and laughs at all the agression that is expressed here and wonders did i do this?? no one i know that loves moz acts the way most of these people do and i know i am not this way, soooo im sticking to listening to the creations that we all seem to have in common, but im not going to agree at all or read anymore bitching and moaning from the people that i cant relate too.. where does it come from???? farewell and goodnight .. i thank you from the heart of my bottom--- Shan

Splendid Gary...he had a stroke at the age of 24. It could have been a brilliant career. Never mind.....
