Is there anyone with the article willing to scan the photos? Thanks to Elbowless for the following:

I've put the full text of the Times article on the web at:

"Heaven Knows I'm Not Miserable Now" by Michael Bracewell, The Times (Nov. 6, 1999)

No pictures, unfortunately. I got the text from an online subscription news service, and the pictures weren't included. Can someone post them?

A truly well-written and insightful article. And for once, objective, even complimentary.

"I don't exist as another person, somewhere else,
doing something else with other people. There is no other me. There is no
clocking off."

And how glad we*re about this, MOrrissey.

Thanks for typing the article up, it was truly enjoyable to read. Hopefully this is the begining of a renaissance period for MOz, I know I need one or maybe just a walk in the cold rain.

I think I like this new Morrissey living the high life. No more of this hanging with boxers and trivializing everything. Mazel Tov Moz! (That would make a great tour name)

Did I read he has a LEATHER armchair??? All
you hippie loven Vegans, what do you have to say about this??? And don't give me the "He might have bought it used garbage." Morrissey is a MURDERER!!!!! And if you Vegan's buy any of his licensed merchandise your money is going towards the death of innocent animals. You should all be ashamed of yourselves because I sure am.

You took me behind a disused railway liiiiiiiine

Way back in the Smiths days he listed as
his "secret confession" --- "leather shoes".

so there should be no surprises here.

I lent Morrissey the leather chair while he was getting unpacked. He protested and didn't seem to appreciate the gesture, but after awhile he realized that it felt good to wear a velour gucci suit and sit on the smooth, supple leather.

Moz is a total hypocrite. I can't believed I've been tricked by his good looks and kind words.
I will believe him no more. Get out while you can.

"I spend hours just driving around the small rundown Mexican areas of Los
Angeles - that is, the areas where the small, rundown Mexicans live," he says.
"And I have become quite fascinated by that. And so, yes, you could say I've
come from Salford to Lincoln Heights. It's a short walk, really, and there are
very familiar types in each place, and they are all interlinked.

This has been addressed before. In an interview during the 92 'Your Arsenal' tour, the interviewer pointed out that Moz was wearing a leather belt. His response was that he never has asked anyone to stop eating meat or wearing leather. For him to be a hipocrite, he would have to be telling people not to do it, which he doesn't. He simply gives us his views, but never tries to impose them on anyone else. That is why he is not a hipocrite, for anyone who thinks he is.

I'm glad some of you decided to stop adorate Morrissey now for the reason of a leather armchair. Let the real fans survive!

GOOD LUCK JOHN CALE!

I sure hope that everyone here being critical of morrissey for having leather doesn't breathe. I think you should know that when you breathe you kill millions of micro-organisms who have every right to life that you do......
we all do the best that we can, and I would bet that morrissey has done more for the animal rights cause than anyone of the pissed off straight edge kids who complain about him selling out....
-I love you from the heart of my bottom

Interesting that he should say the following :

"I can't really be accused of anything else now, except murder, and I'm sure that that's bound to come at some stage"

..and the title of the article in the Guardian is 'The man who murdered pop'.

As for the leather chair/vegetarianism debate - it's an old argument but it goes on....

Who cares about the leather chair - I think that's something that Moz has always declared a fondness for:

"Why pamper life's complexity when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat?"

"And on cold leather seats, well it suddenly struck me, i just might die with a smile on my face after all."

What about the new album! And being released over the Internet! We await with baited breath.

When Morrissey says "And I know that people who dislike me will dislike me even more for saying this, but I don't have another life. I don't exist as another person, somewhere else doing something else with other people. There is no other me. There is no clocking off.", he forgets that people who love and understand him will love even more, because being faithful to what we are, rather than expressing ourselves through a sociable fit and artificial image, is perhaps the only thing we need to learn in life.
If happiness is anything real apart from social paradigms, them it must make sense where the being can be found again, in our lives.
Thanks Morrissey, for being the way you are :)

There are comments here about how well the article was written. It was written by Linder's husband, so I`m sure that it was closely scrutinised by it's subject prior to publication. It reads more like an advertising feature. Since the writer is a friend of Morrissey, what do you think that the chances of any comments Morrissey didn't like, being included in the feature?

Morrissey seems very desperate to shed off his earlier 'image', almost TOO desperate. So I'm not too surprised that he has enlisted his friends to help him in that aim. Do you think that it is mere coincidence that Michael Bracewell wrote the feature, & Linder took the photos?

Well to all the moz fans out there. One thing i can say is to stop being like Morrissey and be individuals. It seems like Morrissey's fans have become a cult latley. What the man does with his personal life is his business. I mean why do you try to fellow a human being >? Morrissey is great and what he has given us through his music and lyrcis is price less. Morrissey will always be Morrissey, what makes him different ? just because he wears gucci suits and lays around on a leather chair what makes him different ? what we should remember the man for is all the great music he has given us. Lets not all run around looking like Morrissey or acting out his life cause there is only one and he is the man.
