Thanks to (anon) for the scan and the following:

It looks as if someone is actually going to appear as Morrissey on 'Stars In Their Eyes' afterall. In the June 29th edition of The Mirror, showbiz columnist Matthew Wright reported that British comic Harry Hill appears as Morrissey on a special Celebrity edition of the highly rated ITV show, recorded in Manchester last week.

The relevant text from the article:

...The biggest laugh in the show, recorded in secret in Manchester on Sunday night, came when madcap comic Harry Hill changed himself into ex-Smiths star Morrissey.

Clutching a big bunch of gladioli, Harry, 35, strutted and preened to This Charming Man...

When I saw Harry Hill a couple of years ago in London he punctuated his whole set with bursts of Dagenham Dave. Everyone shout 'A-Team'!!!

I'd just like to be the first person to congratulate Kirsty Young on her stunning victory in this years show. She is, without doubt, my favourite Channel 5 newsreader.

"Stars In Their Eyes" is a fairly long-running TV show here in the UK. It involves members of the public imitating their favourite singers. At the end of the programme, the audience vote for their favourite, and the winners of each show go on to the series finale, where the public get to vote by phone, fax, or email. It has a strange appeal, it can be just as awful as it is hilarious.
Anyway, about once a year they have a "celebrity" version of the show, where TV presenters or comedians impersonate their favourite singer.
Harry Hill is a very funny guy, and the fact that he obviously likes Moz endears him to me even more!
