Re: What do you think of the new Morrissey single, "I'm throwing my arms around Paris
It's mediocre in my opinion. It's a nice enough song, but nothing really reaches out to me to demand repeated listens. My main problems with it is how lyrically thin on the ground it is, aswell as it's short...
Good job I didn't download these so called illegal bootlegs than isn't it?
Let's see...
Something is Squeezing My Skull was aired on Jools Holland earlier this year
One Day Goodbye Will Be Farewell and Arms Around Paris were debuted and played on his last tour.
All You Need Is Me...
My concern for this album is that it will feel more to me like an EP with some additional songs on it that I've already heard a million times before. I dont understand why Morrissey would bother putting AYNIM and THPGU on this album, let alone the rather average "Paris" and "Farewell"...
The current tour isn't over yet, is it? How do you know he wont play any new material some ways down the line?
If he chooses not to, I assume it will be to avoid diluting the impact of the new album. Remember, that supposedly the album has been "finished" for awhile now, yet it still wont see...
Viva Hate: I Don't Mind If You Forget Me
Kill Uncle: Honestly, Our Frank was the best thing on there!
Your Arsenal: The National Front Disco
Vauxhall and I: Now My Heart Is Full
Southpaw Grammar: Reader Meet Author
Maladjusted: Maladjusted
You Are The Quarry: The World Is Full Of Crashing...
What's also interesting is how topical the new songs are; they deviate quite considerably from the autobiographical introspection that Ringleader, and to a lesser extent Quarry revelled in. Of course, no one can vouch for this until we hear more, but already the songs are sounding quite subject...
I'm not going to regard AYNIM and THPGU as having anything to do with the new upcoming album. Not only have they already appeared on the Greatest Hits release, but they were written and recorded on the fly while touring, and dont feel part of the new albums "sound". The same goes for...
And my reasons...
1. It's hypocritical. "Re-issue, re-package, re-package" anyone?
2. It's basically a re-release of the last two albums with some golden oldie's thrown in.
3. The cover art is an old photograph of the younger Morrissey. A trend in recent publicity that I find to...
:mad:Take that back this instant!
Viva - Margaret on the Guillotine
Uncle - The Harsh Truth of the Camera Eye
Arsenal - Your Gonna Need Someone on your Side
Vauxhall - The Lazy Sunbathers
Southpaw - Best Friend on the Payroll
Maladjusted - Sorrow Will Come in the End
Quarry - America...
Criminally overlooked and immensley underrated song. One of the "diamonds in the rough" on Maladjusted to be certain. I love the lazy, swaying music to this song, with Moz's vocals dipping in and out in perfect fashion. The lyric is very simple and plainly emotive, yet manages to connote...
