I like Ringleader, it's a good old easygoing sort of record and it's got a good set of b-sides too (I'm in the Sweetie Pie fanclub, it's got a membership of one).
That said, I've never quite forgiven anyone involved in Dear God Please Help Me for inviting Ennio Morricone to score it then...
I wish Dear God Please Help Me wasn't widely available. Get a renowned composer in to add some score then chuck most of his work in the bin. Annoys me every time.
Ganglord is an absolute belter though. Blew me away first time I saw him play it live.
How can you name a post that and then not push the actual song? From a single that sold tiny numbers & not featured on any compilation, 'You Must Please Remember' has got to be one of the lesser listened to songs of all.
Morrissey isn't 'cancelled' for his views, he's cancelled because he's 61. Quarry (a sales abberation in the first place) went platinum, Ringleader gold, Years of Refusal silver, then oblivion. That's what happens, and to people way bigger than Morrissey.
It's too short to compensate for its weaknesses. Look at an album like Parklife by Blur, it's got sixteen tracks three of them are throwaway but it's got 13 others. Kill Uncle has Found Found Found and Harsh Truth of The Camera Eye and that's a fifth of the album taken care of.
The good songs...
