I watched only one video, "There is a light that never goes out." He lacks the subtlety and stage presence of Morrissey. Maybe he was trying too hard. This is not a criticism just an observation.
You know you go to a concert and you're hoping the artist will play a couple of songs that you love and you're waiting for those songs. With Morrissey I couldn't give a shit what songs he picks: just sing! Just sing!
I need to clarify that at the conclusion of the post, I meant to say there are many Morrissey songs that I didn't care for upon first listen but now, somehow, I really like them (e.g., Let me Kiss You, Life is a Pigsty, The Youngest was the most Loved).
I just listened to Walkabout World and I was really hoping for something interesting. Something that would just catch me, but no! This brought to mind how many times over the last couple of decades I have had the same experience. Why can't the "first listen" of a Morrissey song be a grand...
